Snap Wexley

By admat, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Looking for a confirmation: Can Snap Wexley still perform his free boost action if his maneuver template crossed an asteroid (but the ship didn't land on it of course)? In other words, is this free action included in the maneuver step or does it happen after, during the action step? Then it would be automatically denied since the asteroid forces to skip the action step.

Snap's ability is independent of the Perform Action step. Snap could actually use his ability to boost off of an asteroid onto which his maneuver had landed him.

It happens after the maneuver step, but before the Perform an Action step. So you could do the free boot since it's a free action and not part of the perform an action step.

As long as he is still capable of putting the boost down, yes. Its still restricted to the template cant touch any obstacles but hitting a rock says "skip your action step" and his ability happens between your maneuver/cleanup and action. You still lose your normal action, but you arent sitting on a rock denying your attack anymore.

Wouldnt help if you hit debris though, as you get that stress the moment you notice he hit the debris.

Snap goes like this:

Reveal dial -> Move ship -> Assign or clean up stress -> Perform free boost if 2+ speed and not stressed -> Action step

Many thanks all!
