THIS is how you Regional (Shameless Plug)

By KineticOperator, in X-Wing

Our Omaha X-Wing regional is this coming weekend, the 12th. We are expecting a good turnout despite the proximity to Worlds, which may have to do with...

We have a BBQ truck coming to serve lunch to everyone who preregisters (we will do our best for walk-ins also, but if there are too many we may run out). This is provided by the store, at no additional charge. We have also convinced our local craft-beer distributor to come out and do a free sampling.

Yes, you read that right. X-Wing, free BBQ, and free beer. I'm not sure how much more a person could ask for.... :-)

See you Saturday!

The presence of free BBQ and beer almost makes up for it being held in Nebraska!

I jest, that's really awesome.

The Omaha guys are awesome. I'm too fried physically after worlds to head down, but I wish I could.

Hmm.....i am tempted...

i live in Lincoln and my saturdays are usually just me sitting on my ass.

My only issue is 8am start. That means i have to wake up even earlier than i wake up for work >.<

Silly question: is hotr legal at this one?

Yeah but im lazy lol. Least when actually getting out of the bed im lazy.

Yes, HOTR will be legal. I expect much Rey...

Also, registration starts at 8am but if you are preregistered you can print a squad list from voidstate and bring it with to cut that time down dramatically. Dials down at 9am.

hotr is legal? yup im goin. do all the signup crap after work today.

Not a fan of Rey, im a fan of the upgrades in there. I havent ran a list without Pattern Analyzers on something since hotr released lol.

Now...which list to bring...hmm...

I look forward to watching from afar. My schedule won't allow me to make it this weekend, but this sounds like an awesome event and a great way to see how HOTR will impact the brave new post-worlds environment.

It's going to be a great time guys, come on out and enjoy some good food and good gaming!

Looking forward to it. Glad the DSM crew is planning to carpool!

There's more than one regional the week after worlds?? This tourney schedule change sucks!

Aghh i dont know what list to bring! I have like 4 rather nasty lists involving crap out of HOTR and i cant decide which is meaner lol

A good group of us from Colorado will be heading out this weekend. (Probably a bigger group than expected, now that there's free beer . . . :P ).

'Course, now I have to figure out what to fly. Was going to bring Corran and Miranda, but how can I do that now and still be a hipster? :D

I need to pass this along to the folks organizing our Boston Massachusetts Regional. Maybe we can all have clam chowda instead of BBQ.

@Vinheart01: Direct message some of the locals out there & maybe they'll offer you a cot to sleep on if you want to drive out the night before; the Star Wars community is pretty awesome like that.

It's worth the trip, especially if you have the time. Make some new friends, new stories to tell, and maybe an new tradition.

You have four days to sort out your lists & to figure out accommodations (if you go that route). Do not spend another Saturday that fades into the hundreds of other Saturdays you spent on your butt; make this one stand out and get to Omaha!

Oh im going. Its like an hour or so drive from me lol. It takes me like 5min to get from my apartment to I80east.

ive been meaning to get into the competitive scene since even though i dont do the cutthroat meta lists i still outperform the casuals. Good time to test my flying skills.

Serious question, KO, are you going to play? My wife has perhaps foolishly given me a tentative green light, but I'm having trouble justifying a drive for a two-day event plus 1-2 night's stay and time away from the family. However, having the tiniest fraction of a chance to avenge my 2015 Regionals loss against you in your own store is certainly something I cannot lightly put aside. Either way, do you think you'll be in KC on Dec 10th?

At the Regional level, you can still throw some weight around with non-super cutthroat meta lists if you know them inside and out, and if you carefully plan your matchups against the super cutthroat meta lists.

I hope to play, and expect to do so. While my store is hosting, I am not the organizer nor am I a judge so there is room for me. And I really, really want to use some of these new lists I've been writing....

I am planning for now to be there. It's tough with the store schedule, but I'm motivated!

Assuming all things go according to the plan, the KC regional on the 10th is going to be my first. Would be awesome to meet you guys there.

See a tall skinny guy with glasses and a Zelda/Starwars crossover shirt and/or a Luigi jacket that's me lol.

Still debating on the list. Might be taking rebels, despite usually being an imperial player.

No can do...but..will be at Milwaukee regional also this weekend.and while the food is not free...I would say that the catfish sandwich is a super OP upgrade chunk of deliciousness in SERIOUS need of a nerf.

I like the idea of a regional starting at 9 am (dials down), rather than starting at 11 am
