Flack cannon upgrade

Okay was thinking of a way to increase captial ships effectiveness against squadrons. The first idea is offensive upgrade hat either adds one blue dice or one extra dice of a color already in the AS pool. Thinking between 7-10 Pts

Well. Agent Kallus.

My initial reaction is we already have anti-squad upgrades and ships... Flight Controllers, Point Defense Reroute, Quad Laser Turrets, Agent Kallus, Raider and its titles, GR-75, Gozanti, Jamming Field, Yavaris, Gallant Haven, Admiral Chiraneau, Corrupter. Also, CF can do the same thing you are asking for.

Did I miss any?

And rumor is the new Flechette upgrade in the Pelta expo will toggle the slider on squads after you attack them. We have the tools to deal with squads, including bringing your own. I get FFG hasn't made a direct counter to every squad, which you are proposing, but we most certainly can shut down the squadron game. You might have to change your play style to accommodate, or simply ignore your opponents squads and kill the carriers.

To play along with your idea though, I think an upgrade that adds dice to the attack pool is way to powerful for 7 points. Make it a Turbolaser slot and a modification to really limit where this thing can go, and between 10-12 points. Text would be along the line of "You may add 1 die to the attack pool of a color that is already present." This prevents you from hitting obstructed squads if you have 1 die, and increases the threat of the 2 die anti-squad ships. Also, Raiders can't equip this so they can't throw 5 dice at a unique squadron with a CF.

We already have one and it's called Ruthless Strategists.

I did forget that one.

I'd consider running a Turbolaser slot upgrade that is a modification that adds a single black die to the anti-squad battery.

Not many ships will consider it as they need that turbolaser slot for messing with defense tokens.

Keep it offensive slot but put the line small base only.

Yeah Flechette (rounds?) with Ruthless Strategist might should prove interesting.

Ruthless Strategist is actually pretty decent on MKII A. Just dump the damage on to something cheap with lots of hull like a Y-wing, or a zombie Wedge/Luke who are already "dead".

Is Flechette a defensive upgrade? Drive a corvette into a cloud of squadrons at the end of the turn. Flechette them at the start of the next. OMNOMNOMNOM

All we really know about Fletchette 'X' is that they are an Ordnance Upgrade.

They could just make Quad Laser Turrets just straight Counter 1 instead w/o the range restriction. I think that would help the upgrade a lot and get around the Rhymer loophole.

... or they could be providing other Non-Rhymer Options for Imperials to use.... Eh? Eh? :D

Dammit, I'm not putting that on an MC30!

My reading of Fletchette upgrade suggests the need of a black die in your AS battery to spend. This would make Raider 1 and Pelta attack ship the only ships in the game who can naturally use the upgrade. This makes sense as content reading implies pelta has no weapon teams. Making it the first ordance ship in the game with no weapons team slot. This opens future ships simalar to pelta to get reliable effectivness from their AS die and Raider 1 ships to build for more AS damage and control.

Where did this rumor come from? Worlds? That sounds like an excellent ordnance upgrade for a Raider I (cost dependent obviously).

I’ve thought for some time the best way to assist ships against Squadrons is to change how the concentrated fire dial works. Perhaps when declaring the shot from a hull arc is against squadrons, if you use the Concentrated Fire dial, all shots from that arc against squadrons count Crits as Hits.

This would introduce a greater amount of certainty when devoting an attack against a squadrons, while not in general increasing the lethality to a huge degree.

iuts not really a Rumour, its more of an attempted read of the half-Card that is presented...

"While.... squadron... 1 black die... to toggle... slider to..."

I'm pretty sure he wants a card that reads: ***k you Jan Ors: x does x and auto kills Jan that annoying space...yeah

Considering that "1 black die" is explicitly stated in the text it could require spending the black die to toggle the slider

Eg:" While attacking a squadron, you may spend 1 black die with a (hit icon) to toggle the activation slider of that squadron

(used leading shots, adar tallon and H9 as prediction for wording)

There is no 'c' in "flak."
