Not that I think anyone would ever have had a problem with it but good to see everyone was ok with WWPD Steves Xwing boosted flotillas. I was never sure if they would run afoul of the tourney rules as far as using standard models without modification, but obviously they are fully legit!
Something I noticed from Worlds coverage...
I noticed that too. As an organizer, I'd have no problem with it. It was nice to see that FFG wasn't taking themselves too seriously.

I also believe I saw someone who just had a single flotilla on their stand....? I can't recall if the other peg was completely squadrons or empty, but I distinctly remember someone going up to the judge/marshall to see if it was alright he only had a single flotilla in his flotilla....
I suppose it would be a single transport in his flotilla, but is that a flotilla then? I digress....

I don't think that is allowed because you require all the components of a model to field it. They could easily "create 2 flotillas" from 1 pack by separating them as you say. What Steve did is slightly different, because it is simply aesthetics, and he could remove the X-Wings from the stands if someone asked.
If someone asked the 1 peg guy, would he be able to produce the entire model? If not, he would get DQ at the end of his game, unless he would buy another pack.

Nice. Thanks Dras.

I'm pretty sure it was something along the lines of left behind/broken. I'm not sure if he was able to produce or not, I didn't catch the whole ordeal. I'm pretty sure he was only running a single flotilla like that; if he had a second one it was complete, or he didn't have a second flotilla.
But it was a glimpse of an interaction at the beginning of a long day day of Armada. I just know it happened haha.
I had ties with my flotilla, just on the lower one cause if you put them on both then it makes the lead guy really tall. I had multiple FFG staff come up and take pictures of my fleet and comment on both Vykes paint jobs of my GSD and ISD as well as the addition of ties to the flotilla. They all thought it was cool.
I saw several flotillas in the team tourney with this idea, but with one flotilla on one arm of the double stand, and a triple squadron peg in the other arm...but with only two squadrons filled in. A mix of X-wings, Awings, and Ywings as the escorting fighters. He varied their positions too so it didn't look uniform at all.
I really liked it, it gave the impression of rag-tag escorts....whatever the rebels could scrape up.
Personally I would have no problems playing someone with this setup - it's quite clear what is being represented. FFG staff seemed to have no problems too...but this was in the team tourney where things were pretty relaxed.
