Example: If I run Extra Munitions or a ship with SLAM, do I HAVE to bring a munitions/SLAM'd token, or am I allowed to proxy it with a coin?
Do I have to use less-common tokens in organized play?

Tokens
Tokens are representations of information about the game or game state. The presence of tokens—other than tokens that are essential components—is marked by one or more indicators. Indicators may also be used to represent multiple tokens, or other open or derived information. Essential tokens are ship and obstacle tokens, as well as any bomb tokens (in a reasonable quantity) required for a player’s list. Other tokens are not essential components. Typically, players use the cardboard tokens included in official product as indicators. However, players may choose to use other items as indicators, so long as they do not obscure significant component information, are resistant to accidental modification, and their purpose of use is clear to both players. The marshal is responsible for determining the legality of an indicator and its reasonable usag
This is actually something that came on recently here in NZ, and someone asked (I assume flippantly and not seriously), if something like M&Ms could be used. What ensued was one of the most ludicrous threads I've ever witnessed.
Seriously, what is wrong with using the correct tokens? Why should there ever be a need to use some kind of proxy token?
I understand the rule above is probably aimed more at the use of the large variety of after-market acrylic tokens that are available, but they are generally designed to mimic the official tokens, so they're not really likely to be an issue. But the use of coins, M&Ms, potato chips, bacon, or anything that isn't easily recognizable as a particular type of indicator token, should be flatly banned.

Because finding that single weapons disabled token in a sea of other red tokens is hard sometimes. ![]()
Yeah, many people will just forget they play SLAM and don't brind their token for it. Or loose it or many other reason. This is a very specific token. You could have never bought a ship with Extra Munition, but bought the card without the token and then you need something to represent them.
You may also be one of the few that find it uterly stupid to stack Stress Token on Tycho and just use a dice to represent the number.
There is many possible reason to not have the official token. It would be stupid of them to enforce them.

I have a small tackle box that keeps all my tokens sorted anyway. But I generally keep those more unique tokens in with the ships that generally use them, and not in among the rest of my tokens. So I know my cloak tokens will always be with my TIE Phantoms, and my weapons disabled tokens are with my K-wings. It easy to find them then.

M&m's as shield tokens (or the adult version involving shots) is good fun.

All my shields would be gone befor the first shot was even fired...
At the Store Championship for Imperial Assault this year, one guy used skittles to track damage, and when you did damage to one of his units you had to eat the damage.
He figured it was a win-win, either you don't do any damage, or you get diabetes...

I'm allergic to Artificial Colours and Flavours....
I'm pretty sure "attempting to induce anaphylactic shock in your opponent" would come under "poor sportsmanship" in most cases.....
For a long time I didn't have a weapons disabled token for Corran Horn as I didn't own a K-Wing. Just had to make do.
Double post. My point is just that important.

We used to do this with Blast Markers for Epic (using skittles).... Until we realised that passing observers where unstressing our formations.

Corran doesn't actually take a Weapons Disabled token, since that token should be cleared in the End Phase.

If no token how is everyone supposed to remember that Corran double tapped last turn and can't attack this turn? Yes, I realize it is possible to just remember but a token of some kind would definitely make it easier and a weapons disabled token makes the most sense to me.

And that's why I made these...

Admittedly, I don't have one for a pilot's ability, the EPT token still works if I can't find my Weapons Disabled token.

The first two pages of my upgrades binder are standard card pages full of the uncommon tokens like bombs, extra munitions, cloak, ect...
