Mission Reclassified (Spoilers)

By mischraum.de, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

1) The Rebels have four clues and and two successes for the safe.

Now a Rebel figure claims another clue token. I made the argument that they still require another interact with the safe to crack it. They thought that the safe would be cracked because they had all the successes they needed.

2) Could the Rebels retrieve the documents from each other?

The RRG says "A carried token cannot be retrieved by other figures, traded to other figures, or voluntarily dropped." On the other hand the Golden Rule in the RRG p. 2 says Mission Rules can override the RRG.

It says also "If a card or mission uses the word cannot, that effect is absolute and cannot be overridden by other effects." However the RRG rules do not seem protected by the word "cannot".

1) Our PBF group came to the same conclusion from the wording. Getting an extra clue isn't enough without an additional interact. The clue only reduces the number of successed needed when performing the interact. It is not adding any successes.

2) No. You can not retrieve carried tokens unless the mission rule explicitly allows it. A carried object cannot be voluntarily dropped. A rebel figure can retrieve the documents only if they are first dropped. (My rebels even considered Blasting Diala so she would become wounded and drop the token.)

So the sentence in the mission rules that states that Rebel figures can retrieve the token is only there because you normally can't retrieve a token?

More generally spoken do we know if a mission rule can override a "cannot" from the RRG?

There is no default rules for other objects than door, so the rule allowing retrieving the documents is required because of that.

Abilities on cards and mission rules can override the cannot of RRG. However, here the mission rule does not override a cannot. The mission rule only allows to retrieve the token. It does not override anything or add anything to retrieve. It is just there so that a dropped token could be retrieved. A rebel figure still cannot retrieve a carried token.

I.e. the event allows the figure performing the interact to retrieve the token as part of the interact. The mission rule is needed to be able retrieve a dropped token. It would be a crappy mission if defeating (wounding or withdrawing) the rebel figure carrying the token would make it impossible to win for the rebels for that alone.
