Does anyone have the timestamp? I've been away for a while and I'd like to watch the games!
Justin vs Steve was the roughly 3 hours. Jj vs Justin was the next 2 hours.

It would be nice if they could bump the time limit for the final cut rounds like they do with IA. Sucks seeing a game not finish and there was heaps of distractions for them.

Makes me sad that my lifestyle doesn't allow the time to be better than average.
Edited by ManInTheBoxThanks for the info. I'm gonna be all over this later. I love how we were discussing how you couldn't get a Y-Wing spam list to work only a couple of days ago, then once you see it, it becomes clear. This game really does reward experienced and ingenious playing.https://www.twitch.tv/ffglive/v/99177725Is there a way to rewatch the games for those who live in the European timezone?

Vassal fits into all lifestyles. I can work a 12 hour day. Go home grab some food and then fit a game in before bed!
A few things that stand out to me:
1. I think everyone in the Vassal community would agree that there is no one more deserving than JJ in holding the Worlds title. When I first gave Vassal a shot, JJ was one of the first people I played in a tournament. He could not be more gracious about beating my &$@ like a drum.
He is an incredibly nice guy that will go out of his way to make games fun and you ALWAYS learn something from him. He is the definitely the "Yoda" right now. I have commented to anyone willing to listen that JJ is the master of the navigation command. Which leads me to the next observation.
2. I'm so glad Maturin and Biggs were able to post images about game 1. In my opinion, the play of Worlsd was JJs round 6 nav with his AF2. There was no way out of this (I thought) and then JJ totally pulls a ram and backs up so that he is in just the front arc of Admonition. Amazing.
3. Finally, I now have a mental image while playing JJ on Vassal and know it has to be the secret to his success. He must have Jedi powers that he triggers with this battle meditation: One hand on the chin...pace left...one hand on the chin...pace right...crush all those little spaceships that are in your way...pace left...
(Excuse errors. On phone but wanted to put these down fast. Somebody please start a Worlds thought/post mortem)
A combination of JJ's nav command and the lack of one for Admonition to escape the ensuing ram.

I've a house to renovate, which often takes up my spare time. However I'm planning to get in on Vassal this week to familiarise myself. After that I'll be looking for someone to be patient with me through my first game.

Hehehe!!! I usually don't pace so much!! I was both a little nervous and had so much extra space to move around in!

Just finished watching this. JJ's list was so well constructed it was over before it even began.

Fix the VSD! ![]()
Surely it will be an anti-squadron card, or something that will blow up bomber command center. Never let someone else beat you with your own stick.
Congrats JJ and everyone who attended!!!
Thanks also Biggs and FFG for the updates and coverage.
I really enjoyed following this through the week. Sounds like there are a couple of things FFG may (maybe hopefully) take forward to improve going forwards, but I really liked it.
What an opportunity JJ has if he will be designing a new card for Armada.
I do think there's some merit with something to help tackle massed squadrons, as this was clearly the Meta that ruled Worlds. There are a few cards already that attempt to do this but generally do it poorly. Quad lasers gives a counter 1 and that's probably the best of the bunch. Then there's Point Defence which allows ships to reroll crits and Cluster Bombs which you discard to deal one fighter 4 blue dice. Both of these generally fail to be worth their cost. If Cluster bombs affected a wider group and or weren't a one off, they'd be considerably better.

I think we might already be getting something like that in the "Flechette..." ordnance upgrade in the coming Phoenix Home expansion.

I would love to see a point defense system for ships that would do a blue to all squads at range 1 of the ship then get discarded. It'd have to be a 10 pt card, but worth it for carriers. If you make it a turbolaser, then it wouldn't let any instigator shenanigans happen....just a thought....
Congratulations JJ, very well played and a great fleet build.
Was fun to watch.

I agree. JJ was simply on another level and obviously deserving to be world champ. Good try but his opponent was simply outmatched. I also thought it was very cool about the 'fly casual' he practiced when Justin was allowed to go back as the commentary pointed out.
Edited by Amraam01Great video. I learned a lot by watching both games. Thanks, Justin and JJ!
Note to self. Must get more Y-wings. ![]()
