Best 35 point ship?

By Funkleton, in X-Wing

My LGS are doing a Top Gun tournament next month.

One ship per player - maximum 35 points.

There's so many great choices for that price I just can't decide.

Suggestions?

Fel, if you can fly him well.

Also, you could do Omega Leader.

Naked Resistance Sympathizer is a solid choice.

X-Wing with R2-D2

Fel is an obvious choice and I'm a competent Interceptor pilot .... but I have an aversion to obvious.

Alas the Resistance Sympathiser is 38pts - though I was thinking of blowing the dust off one of my pancakes .... how about Eaden Vril with intelligence agent and APL or Ion Projector?

Fenn Rau with Fearlessness and a bid.

Oh, right. I got him mixed up with the Ghost.

Vader is still ridiculously strong if you don't expect tlt's. Ptl Ryad minus mk2 engines is strong. A really built backdraft can perform. Empire is full of options here.

Carnor Jax (Push The Limit + Autothrusters + Stealth Device or Hull Upgrade): 34 points

Partybus, if large ships are allowed.

it comes in at 34 points but i has so many options

Snap Wexley (28)
BB-8 (2)
Push the Limit (3)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)

FBJ

The Inquisitor might be a solid choice. Works well with the title and Juke, Outmanuever, or PTL, and can still throw in some Proton Rockets.

I was thinking Vrill with an Ant-Pursuit Laser and Intel Officer as well.

So my local boardgame cafe did this event recently, top 3 (all 4 wins one loss) were 2 guys with Fenn Rau + stuff and me with the below:

TIE Bomber: · Tomax Bren (24)

Crack Shot (1)

Extra Munitions (2)

Proton Rockets (3)

Homing Missiles (5)

Guidance Chips (0)

The only thing I lost to was Nera who got an unfortunate crit on me that stopped me firing. Everything else it absolutely brutalised. Don't take Omega Leader, he will get murdered (happened in our event). Soontir did okay but as soon as stuff got behind him he was done.

So yeah, I'd take Tomax or Nera. The Prockets could be swapped for bombs too as a range 1 3 Dice **** with Crackshot works well enough.

Vader (29)

+ Engine (4)

+ Title/ATC (1)

+ VI (1)

Out PS and out maneuver everyone.

Here are some fun 35 point ships:

Maarek Stele (35) - TIE Defender

Juke (2), TIE/x7 (-2)

Tycho Celchu (34) - A-Wing

Rage (1), Proton Rockets (3), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Autothrusters (2), Snap Shot (2)

Tel Trevura with VI, the painbot and zuckuss would probably be fun as well

Better, Tel with GONK and Pistol-P8: just fly around and laugh as all the low-health aces kill themselves.

I find it a bit odd that they allow big ships, since those tend to have low costs compared to small ships for even double the hit points.

Anyway, Soontir and Fenn are the choices which immediately come to mind. However, if you are looking for something funnier that a lot of people won't bring (I guess) try these out:

Warden K-Wing , Sabine, EM, Conner Net, Seismic Charges, Adv SLAM. - 35 Points. The idea is simple: Drive in front of them using your low PS and drop a Conner on their face. Then, since you know where they are going next turn, set up for another Conner into a Seismic. With Sabine, this will usually be enough to kill any small ship and big ships will come out very crippled. Also the K-Wing has a turret, so that is a bonus.

Palob , LW, TLT, Dengar, Cloaking Device, Vectored Thrusters - 35 Points. The idea here is to use Vectored Thrusters and the Cloaking Device to control range for your TLT while Dengar gives you re-rolls to support your rolls, since most people will most likely be flying named pilots, plus Palob doing his thing gives you really good chances to hit something. Lone Wolf is, well, pretty much an auto include, unless it is banned (Top Gun tournaments usually ban it). If LW is banned, try VI. This may have truble against Soontir, but it is bonus points since you are running a Hawk :P .

I don't think OP has confirmed large bases are allowed?

N' Dru

Lone Wolf

Cluster Missiles

Black Market Slicer Tools

guidance Chips.

24 Points

most small ships will get nuked by 8 red dice from the cluster missles backed up by the chips and Lone wolf rerolls. Use the BMST to finish off the ones that still limp along after you nuke em. Or swap out the BMST for Hot Shot Blaster and hit em out of arc when they're not expecting it.

Countess Ryad with Predator and x7 is pretty solid.

I'm a huge fan of Sabine in the attack shuttle with PTL, Chewbacca, Autoblaster turret, and targeting computer. That is three points under, but Sabine can rock a game with her stressless three actions a turn.

You are probably going to come up against a lot of high Agility Fel like pilots so something like this may work.

I would love to make Wedge work in this scenario. How do we think this would work?

IA or GC

PS10 with reposition options, and for punching through a token stack on Soontir or an x/7, a 4 dice torpedo with his ability to lower agility. Its a toss up on whether I want a hit point with IA or a crit of damage with GC.

OP also doesn't say they're disallowed.
