the last time i played WFRP was 1ed. I made strong use of magic lock/open.
It doesn't appear to be in this edition. Am i missing something or is this handled under Cantrip?

When I updated "Web of Eldaw" from 0th edition to 2nd edition, it came up. I'd just put it under a cantrip with a couple misfortune dice.

I'm inclined to put almost everything under the Cantrip spell. It's much more versatile than your simple "I cast a fireball with this card here"-spells that are for combat anyway. I also recommended to my bright wizard's player that he should invent a way his school is represented when he casts cantrips. So "open lock" could create a burning key or just melt the lock away. Protection from rain could turn his hair in magical fire that keeps him from getting wet etc. Personally I think that even though they don't have any "really good spells" like in WFRP2 wizards are now much more powerful if they can creatively use their Cantrip.
