Combat movement

Anyone else having issues with movement in encounter mode?

Do I have this right:
To move from close to engaged it takes 1 manover. From Medium to close it takes 2 manover. From long to medium 3 manouvers. From extreme to long 4 manouvers?

What is the proper way to track all of the distances?

  • Close to engaged costs one manoeuvre.
  • Engaged to close costs one manoeuvre, unless you're only engaged with allies.
  • Close to medium or medium to close costs one manoeuvre.
  • Medium to long or long to medium costs two manoeuvres.
  • Long to extreme or extreme to long costs three manoeuvres.

The book suggests that you place engaged characters in base-to-base contact and use tracking tokens between other characters to indicate ranges. It suggests using one token for close, two for medium, three for long and four for extreme, but using a token for close is unnecessary and partial ranges are possible, so no tokens for close, one for medium, three for long and six for extreme works better.

Check out page 5 of the errata for the information about partial ranges.

I think the intention of the engagement rules is that all models in a base-contact group are engaged with each other, and you join or leave that group with one manoeuvre (unless they're all allies). This isn't clear though.

After I have "found" all rules to WH3 movement, I like this rule more and more. I you "trained" one or two sessions it is "realistic" and speeds up play!
