"If You Really Think About It, It's Like *I* Actually Won" - Steel Squadron November

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada

Well, yes and no... Yes, they are going to most probably be placed by the opponent in the most out-of-the-way areas as possible....

It is before Deployment... And it may end up having some other interaction, such as Grav Shift and all...

But yes, mostly, Player 2 is going into the Battle with 2 of those Tokens that are "potentially useful"...

UNLIKE minefields - they Don't Explode. Get an Enemy ship near one on turn 2, then block its path, and you're rerolling 2 Dice on every attack against that Ship from your Ships, until it moves away from it...

So, if you're really good, and get really lucky - you might get 2-3 lots of Rerolls per turn on it...

Trying to skirt between obstacles could be tricky that way. Funnelling someone towards Bomber Wings instead of clear zones were a Target is.... That sort of thing.

You are correct in the assessment that Player 2 is basically playing with only two Targeting Beacons, because the others are out of play.

But the Beacons are not Removeable or Disposable.\

it could also play into certain combinations... I mean, With Sato coming up, the magic words are "Two Dice" and "Reroll", are they not?

Also, my Residuals on this Gig suck. :D

My personal take on the red objectives is that they wanted to be careful with them because there are already some extremely powerful options in that category. I think we'll see more of the new yellow and blues.

Thanks Dras. I still don't like the objective, but it makes... more sense? I don't get the First Player placing tokens bit, unless FFG really wants the chance to let someone dunk on themselves.

I don't get it, either... I mean, Setup Area is pretty wide. if it was within, say, Distance 5 of the Edge of the Setup Area, that makes it more a Fleet Ambush Area, but no... You can place 'em right out there....

Unless FFG is expecting Big Toilet Bowl Swirls to be a thing on both Sides, now the Arquitens is in play - and that you might speedily end up near that... ::shrug::

Its got me Scratching. Why not just make it 2 or 3 tokens that Player 2 places? That's going to net the same effect...

The card feels half-finished. Perhaps this is another case of a promo card making in place of the completed image? I don't know... We'll hve to wait and see when the box arrives.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe it had a First Player effect in testing, which they scrapped, and then forgot to change the wording on the first part?

Adding having the first player be able to reroll 1 Die would explain a lot.

And I mean, Promo and early version cards do exist, if I must crank this out as a reference for those people who do not know:

Compare with, what we will be getting now:

Still not sold on it though.

As it is now - I agree with you. Its a "better than nothing" objective, but not by much... You have to work to make it good for you, rather than just letting it happen... because it won't, on its own...

But who knows.

Someday, when we are on Wave 15 and no one knows how anything interacts with anything anymore, and exceptions to the base rules is the norm...

Dras will have a 900 number at $5 / minute where he just explains rule interactions.

Urgh. I already hate future me.

Mostly because he'll be a freaking success and I'm a lamewad who does stuff for free.

Effin' Successful Sellout.

My Konstantine list would actually love it in a wierd way.

Obstacles, konstantine and grav shift forcing attack location. Two vet gunner victories with a two dice insurance policy.

If you have two dice insurance policy, why Vet gunners over Gunnery teams? (And btw, G7 interdictors will make Blockade Run very interesting. The first time I can think about a reason to run G7 over GSR.

The other two objectives!

Coming up on a pretty impressive article milestone (200) on Friday.

Wednesday is just going to be horrible upgrade ranking filler, FYI.

On a semi-related note, I hate working nights, particularly when I am NOT working but still have to keep to that schedule. It is 4am here and I am not tired, just hungry.

Grab a Snickers?

Volunteered for an overnight at my fire station on my day off. Gonna walk upstairs and see what free food I can pilfer. Guaranteed to be some oatmeal of some sort (fingers crossed for apple cinnamon).

Sadly, the drill food ran out already.

Update: Found "Triple Berry" oatmeal. Also bought a Mtn Dew for $.50. Expecting this to be a bad decision.

I am now back in the Volunteer Office pretending to do official things while everyone else sleeps. In reality I am listening to Pandora and lurking various forums.

Edit: Imagine if someone brought dehydrated berries into hell, and added them to the gruel that is served there. I am definitely going back upstairs to get that Apple Cinnamon I found and abandoned because "Triple Berry" sounded like it could be good.
