Will Slicer tools end the era of Dengaroo?

By IG88E, in X-Wing

I have a point that is somewhat echoing Stay on the Leader. If we’re talking the list I have seen played which I think is demmed the Jeff Berling Classic, I'm pretty sure it looks like this:

Dengar: Lone Wolf, R5-P8, Zuckuss, Plasma Torpedoes, Zuckass, Counter Measures, Glitter Stim, Punishing One title

Manaroo: Push the limit, Unhinged AstroMech, Recon Specialist, feedback array, engine upgrade.

I like seeing this list run, although I’ve never flown it myself with the only reason being, not having but one Jumpmaster in my hangar. I’ll admit -as a player that’s flown against it- the squad does give me pause each time as I recall the stats, abilities and dials of these ships. Goodness me. However, the weak link to this build is that it has almost ZERO tactical variation. It only works when Dengar gets the enemy focused on him and goes in barrels blazing while Manaroo stays out of the fray for the most part, giving Dengar what he needs to obliterate. Kind of akin to the Palp Aces in a way; although I actually like it when the Palpmobile (as the Manaroo in this comparative illustration) is slow to enter but draws the attention of the enemy; as this makes easier non-return-fire-that-round targets for my Aces. Anyway, as Stay on the Leader stated, the gig is up on this build; although it’s hard to bring them down (no way an auto-win, it’s still a tough fight), if you get to the reclusive Manaroo and take her out, Dengar is almost literally a tiger with many of his once powerful claws removed. So to return to the OP's inquiry, my vote is that Slicer Tools are not the way to get this list off the table. On the contrary, fast moving, hard-hitting ships are...Aces are good, and Defenders are even better. Again, this is from watching and playing against it, not running this list as experts who thread should (sorry about the half-knowledge).

As far as Slicer Tool in general, I've had the great fortune to not have flown against the dirty things, not had to purchased something with the filthy cards in it, nor even seen awful things in person. As far as FFG putting out anti-Ace tools, I have but one word: Nope.
