Is there info about stream and comp details in general for worlds? Just been following the updates for armada and enjoying every minute. Haven't heard as much for IA
Worlds stream etc?
Does anyone know where the replays are? I can find armada and a bunch of card games.
*edit* I'm a day early!

Just watching the replays now. Goddam the commentary is terrible. Those two are morons.

Easy to judge from afar. No need to be rude. Try and be constructive at least.

They are both really bad at casting, They should learn the maps, cards, character abilities, look at the players list, know overall strategies on the maps in rotation, know the rules. Of course there is more but i think thats constructive enough ?
Edited by krzykoopaI'm going to try my best to just point out facts. I get that public speaking is nerve wracking and if I was doing this I'd be super nervous and say lots of stupid things. But there were at least five missed things that should/could have been commented on before the first round was over. I mean, Kenny playing an intelligence leak to look at Jesse's hand right off the bat and take away a jundland terror didn't get anything. "Looks like they've got their guys all set up and are ready to go." Kenny already took out a big card from Jesse.............
Yeah, the first comment on here about the commentary was harsh. But the commentary is rusty at best as far as rules and what's actually going on in the game. I'm watching the first video of round of 8 and I'm having to figure out what's actually happening in the first turn with my own two eyes. I mean, Leia activating and battlefield leadership with Luke popping the top door to let R2 through was interesting and all it got was some comments later of, "I guess he's already thrown a couple guys at the door up there". "Correct."
I think it'd have been great to hear someone that didn't quite place in the top 8 who has a lot of stretegic things to share with the community (Like Paul Heaver or Alistar Scott) comment or Paul Winchester or anyone who is doing some of the podcasts. Rebel sabs with +2 blast? Nope that got errata'd awhile back. HK's not going to be stopped by Obi-Wan's control element of 6 or less because they have a deployment cost of 8? Not true, it's based on figure cost - which is 4 so they can't interact when Obi's close enough.
Sorry, I just had to put these up before I got farther in and couldn't remember the examples. I am thankful I can watch the games and I'm sure I'll see some stuff that's going to give me ideas. And I am glad there's at least someone talking - though it might be even more interesting if I was listening to the players themselves.
Edit - "Is there only the one terminal on this map? I forget, I think so..." "It looks that way. That there is only one terminal and R2-D2 off on the left of the screen is..." "The only one there."
Just heard them say the Bantha being a big figure it's limited in where can end it's movement. "Definitely" Some maps it's better and others it's tricky.... No, it's massive and doesn't care about any terrain/movement limitations at all. Except other massive figures.
I will definitely say the fact that they can't see them playing command cards and can't see people putting damage on their figures is making it very hard for them to get their comments right. I thought Jesse moved his HK in round two a free space, but then was like, maybe he played fleetfooted. Couple minutes later, "We haven't really seen any command cards get played. Though I do see a fleetfooted at the edge of screen." Nailed it
and some things like Bossk hitting a sab where they called 2 damage getting through because of the defense roll but forgot Bossk has inherent +2 damage so 4 would have gotten through. If they could see that damage being put on or cards being played they could at least catch themselves faster. They are good at catching a decent number of their missed statements so that's a good thing ![]()
Ok, I was going to be done, but this one shows how they need to see the cards/damage dealt even more. Kenny plays a card end of Obi's activation to put the last bit of damage on an HK. They say they couldn't see the command card, yep. A few seconds later, "We've just been told it was force choke..." One: "Force Choke" isn't a card in the game; it's an ability on darth vader's deployment card. And two: it would have been "force surge." It took me a second to figure out what happened but I knew it was the force card that gives a movement and 2 damage.

At 1:17 how did Kenny move Obi (with broken droid) 10 spaces (2 actions - one regular move and urgency I saw) and then interact to score the droid? You do have to interact to score the points right? I haven't finished the game yet to see if that play made a difference, but definitely curious on that.
Edit: Game ended right after so moot point, but still wanting to know how he pulled off the interact for the droid points
time to get some sleep.
Sorry if it was hard to tell what we were doing. Putting the command cards in view while you're playing is tricky to remember and we couldn't see what the stream was seeing.
They also said they had mics nearby, but watching the video you can't hear what we're saying. Which is a bit of a shame, as I tend to narrate almost everything as I'm playing to make sure we're both on the same page about everything.

Why are you apologizing? When you are playing, focusing on the game and not doing an added nuance like putting a command card in view of a cam when you play it, is nothing wrong. Thats why there are casters so they can tell the folks watching what is happening, unfortunately they weren't doing a good job in my opinion of that. At one time during the stream they did switch the mic feed ( don't know if it was intentional) but even then you couldn't really hear the players there was so much background noise. I hope FFG can fix this aspect, I also hope the streams for their other games (I only watched IA) are handled better
The fact, THAT ffg streamed these games, absolutely rocks. That the Hosts don't know the rules ... not that much.
I don't blame the commentators, I blame whoever selected the commentators. They did the best they could, unfortunately they aren't familiar enough with the game to do a thorough job. I found the comments in the chat were much more informative, but we have more time to process what is going on.
They could ask the players to maybe drop the command card they play in the dice box so we can see what is being played at least, then when the next roll happens just scoop it out. But honestly I think a lot of this would be solved with some different personalities, Team Covenant did a much better job on the last stream of theirs I watched because they are more familiar with the game. Again, not bashing the people who did the job, they were just out of their league. I honestly would rather they just had mics on the players and let them describe what they are doing, what surge they used, what special actions etc.. then maybe have commentators chime in with a quick explanation here or there where the details are left out by the players.
Overall though it is nice to be able to watch the games. I will never be able to attend a worlds, first because I am not good enough, second because there is no way I could justify the expense to my wife.. and I would rather spend the money fishing anyway
But to be able to watch these games is just great, I really liked the 45 degree angle, they should stick with that.

freaking awesome.
I agree with all the continued points on this. I'm definitely grateful that we get to at least watch the streams of the games. Like I said, i was able to learn more new tricks, etc from watching it. I guess I just expected something a little better from worlds?
Obviously the commentators did the best they could. It's not like they were purposely trying to make the commentary worse or acting like a mystery science theater. Just wish FFG did something to make the commentary more helpful
for next time.

That move was force rush, heart of freedom, urgency to get the full movement to the terminal in only one action and drop off the token.

I haven't watched the streams yet but having that many commentating errors at the worlds top 8+ event is pretty poor form.
I'm sure the players knew what they were doing and I don't expect errors there but you need good commentating on a game like this because the video doesn't show all the info.
I hope in the future we get good overlays like they have for X-wing where you can see all the lists and the cards played and the health of each figure.

Thanks! That makes sense now
I figured there was something just didn't think of force surge since it was already used but with Leia could be gotten back especially with the sheer card drawing going on. But that's a heck of a combo ![]()

Yes. I get the feeling that IA is still an infant in terms of FFG tournament environment. The commentators sounded more like they were having a casual talk about the game and the game at hand, than a highly competitive top match. There is room for improvement for sure.
Rewatching the stream, turns out it was a good thing to be placing damage directly on the board. Without that, you really couldn't tell how much damage anyone had.
During the top 4 match, the poor commentators are like "How much health does that tusken have? I don't know, guess he's fine? That's 3 damage, he'll be alright. Oh, wait, he's off the board now."
Also, we definitely should have dropped the command cards in the dice bucket instead of just holding them over there. Oh well.

I think it would be enough just holding them on the text part and not the art part. Most CC art is fairly recognizable. Also, I was able to follow the top 4 game against the Bantha. But I know how hard commentating a skirmish game can be (you can watch me flail in a few weeks again). So no blame on them ![]()
