Wave 6 prediction thread

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

Strictly gameplay wise I think the best would be a small or medium-base Rebel ship, a large-base Imperial ship, and a Dreadnought, which could be a cross-faction ship. My two cents only though :)

Or gunships, as Forresto said. Tartans for the Imps and Braha'toks for the Rebels. They also would work as offensive flotillas ;)

My guess for Rebels is the Hammerhead and whatever that new ship was that was spotted in the new trailer. Imps are a little harder to predict, but If they're going for a Rogue One Wave, I'd be happy with an Imperial 1 class expansion that gave us a new model, same ship cards, and new upgrades and titles. For their small ship... Acclamator Class Star destroyer maybe?

Acclamator was way too old by the time of Rogue One. It was even considered outdated during the Dark Times as they were clearly outclassed by VSDs, Venators and ISDs. Without releasing some CIS ships I don't think it would be reasonable to release the Acclamator.

I think it actually makes a lot of sense. Acclamators would be out of date, and thus put into defense fleets of unimportant systems. 400 points really isn't an armada , but it is a strike team/defense fleet.

I agree with Felswrath .

I think that because we live in a world where last year's smart phone is a hapless antique, that we say the same about military hardware, and then the same about a galaxy in which military hardware might not advance as fast as it does in our world.

Besides, even if they are big old hulks, that's what points are for.

The Galactic Civil War is a civil war in a sprawling galaxy where many parts of the Outer Rim is frequently like the underdeveloped world. Refurbished (or not) vessels from the previous war should really be what the Rebellion has as the bulk of their fleet. Meanwhile the Empire is a vast military-industrial complex, in which contracts are granted not based on quality, but to political cronies. Meanwhile the Empire has the responsibility for providing millions of jobs to good humans who have been unfairly put out of work by aliens willing to work for cheap. In that environment, the production of mass quantities outweighs the need for producing the state-of-the-art (TIE Defender and TIE Phantom notwithstanding).

I could see the Acclamator added to Armada, but probably not as a dedicated combat ship. More fleet support, probably with expanded rules or objectives for planetary assault or transport.

Would like to see the Acclamator as well. Maybe a medium class ship with lots of armor but terrible to mediocre weapons. Basically a mid range tank good for absorping lots of damage. Effectively a good distractor for bomber spam.

You just described an Interdictor.

Similar yes, but not identical. The Acclamators had quad laser turrets, laser cannons and missile launchers, so i see their firepower as blue/black instead of red/blue. Their shielding was not the greatest, so probably inferior to the Interdictor. But with no experimental upgrades, the Acclamator should come in a lot cheaper.

Well for every wave (except for wave thour but that is something diffrent all together) there has been a squadron pack. (I guess you could count flotillas for wave thour). And there is ships. So ships and squadrons is my prediction.

Except that's.... Fundamentally incorrect.

Wave 1: + Squadrons

Wave 2: Large Ships, No Squadrons.

Wave 3: Flotillas, No Squadrons

Wave 4: Ships, No Squadrons...

Even if you combine "Wave 3 and Wave 4 into Wave Thor".... You still don't have Squadrons in "Every" Wave, because Wave 2 did not include squadrons. It included the first Large Ships.

Wave 2 gave us the Rogues and Villan squadrons

So they did. I stand corrected :D

Well, Wave 3 and Wave 4 are thusly my vindication. And Wave 3 / 4 are thusly my vindication... Because no matter how you slice it, a Flotilla - a Ship - is not a Squadron :D

Still, I'm in the camp of "Squadron Saturation Point Achieved."

I agree I don't see another squadron pack in the next wave

Agreed, we are all set on squadrons for the next wave or two.

Maybe even a front battery of 2red, 2 blue, and 2 black

HOLD THE PHONE!

I was looking around and i've found a ship I don't think ever mentioned in the forums at least in regards to future rebel ships.

The Braha'tok-class gunship apparently is capable of carrying two X-Wings into battle despite not being a carrier.

(It's the ship in the top right corner.)

I smell a rebel combat based flotilla, maybe even an AA focused flotilla.

Good sir I bring this ship up at least once a month! Glad you're on board now :)

I'm really hoping for an Imperial Venator Star Destroyer like we see at the end of RotS, and I'd also love to see a Rebellion Recusant light destroyer. I remember seeing them beautifully rendered in the Essential Guide to Warfare, and as a prequel-generation fan I'd really dig seeing those ships brought back up like X-Wing brought in the ARC-170.

Probably too much firepower for an Assault Transport. I was thinking the basic would be 1 blue/2 black front, 3 blue/1black sides and 2 blue rear.

I'd like to see the Acclamator, if only so that we can take a step closer to being able to play out Empire at War with the game. We really only need the Acclamator, the Tartan Patrol Cruiser, and the two missile frigates. Though if they want to add the Rebel's hero shuttle, the Sentinel shuttle, and the AT-AT Barge they are more than welcome even if they might come off as an odd fit. On the plus side if they did use the Sentinel shuttle, and the shuttle the Rebel heroes used then they might serve as Squadrons with some kind of Boarding Party ability.

Why Acclamators then and not Venators. They are younger, far more potent and the Empire could use another big-base ship.

Why not both? They both served different fleet roles afterall.

I'm pretty sure both are going to pop up, with the Venator being a mirror copy of the Victory but more geared towards being a starfighter carrier over a missile boat.

I like to see the Vic 1 combining the missile cap of the victory, with the carrier capacity of the venator...so...yeah

Death Star... Empire done!
