There's lots of things they will never do.
Like produce ships that are too big for the game.

Or come out with a 3rd faction.

Or put one side's ship in another faction, because it showed up as such in a cartoon once.

I'm referring to the Quasar. They won't make it dual faction. It is an Imperial ship, and this is reflected in the cartoon. One stolen ship does not make the ship belong in a faction. I've stated before that Sabine'es Tie is FFG getting desperate for ideas to appease their ravenous X-Wing players.
And Armada is not X-Wing. FFG has said they learned from X-Wings mistakes, and perhaps those three examples fall among them.

... and in those Instances, they did what I said they'd have to do:
They released specific Ship Cards.
They released non-faction (in this case, 3rd faction) Ship Cards.
They included base-toppers for said 3rd Faction (even though the originals are compatible)
...
They did not include an upgrade card that said you could take this ship in another faction.
I feel like this argument shows up every month and fizzles out after 3 weeks. And then the cycle repeats itself with the same points being made.
I'm persistent. ![]()
..
One could even say, I'm irrepressible... ![]()
Sabine'es Tie is FFG getting desperate for ideas to appease their ravenous X-Wing players.
In my experience, X-Wing players are no more ravenous than Armada players. There's just a lot more of them.
I think Sabine's TIE was just something easy that they could do, since they already had the model design.
And Armada is not X-Wing. FFG has said they learned from X-Wings mistakes, and perhaps those three examples fall among them.
You may have a point with Epic, though I see Epic making a comeback.
And, yeah, Scum faction - Yuuuuge mistake there. Nobody ever plays it. ...
Sabine's TIE hasn't even been released yet. How could they have 'learned from their mistake for Armada' if they're still in the process of doing it in X-Wing?
They did not include an upgrade card that said you could take this ship in another faction.
No, they didn't. I don't think that's really the bigger point, however. That's simply a means of giving a ship to a faction that doesn't currently have it.
Edited by Mikael HasselsteinI just want the Quasar to stay Imperial only just because I like my space triangles to stay with their fellow space triangles.
Could go into further detail why the Quasar should be imperial only, but a lot of those points are already being made. Plus, any argument I would have for "it was only one rebel Quasar" is kind of shot down because Sabine's TIE is releasing for X-Wing.
While I still want to see the Quasar make it's way into Armada, I still stand by my argument that a dedicated "carrier only" ship is completely unnecessary in the game at this point.
Edited by Derpzilla88Yea I'm really not sure what the Quasar can do that the Vic can't. Except move speed 3 and have better yaw. But I like being able to strip shields with bombers and then come in with a 6-8 dice attack.
I imagine the Quasar basically being a Pheonix Home equivalent -
Command 2, high squadron, light armament, cheaper than a vic, more expensive than a flotilla (granted, that's a big range).
Do the Rebels even need the Quasar with Phoenix Home?
Do the Rebels even need the Quasar with Phoenix Home?
Remains to be seen I suppose. We still don't have the full details on what the Phoenix Home Expansion and it's new Fleet Command upgrades do for the Rebels.

Hm...
...I think I need to reverse my argument on a Rebel version of the Imperial carrier.
The filthy Rebel thieves should never get this ship!!
Phoenix Home has that issue with automatically exploding if attacked by Vader.
Any thoughts on the addition of U-wings? (And remember, I called the Lambs and Ghost before their announcement. So don't frag me for suggesting! And apologies if this has been mentioned earlier. 9 pages is a lot to wade through so I skipped it!)

Likely not until wave 7. We have more squads coming in wave 5 which everyone appears to forget about now that X-Wing has the U-Wing. And CC is expanding our unique squads so I don't see the need for even more squads in the near future.
This sounds like an issue for people who say:
"But it doesn't say in the rules that I can't overlap my ships on setup."
That was a Great argument! I can't remember who was arguing it, but he was right: why is Armada a 2 dimensional game?

Yeah. Okay, that makes sense.

Pretty sure it's on the movie with the rebel fleet soooooooooo

When did they say this? Because I REALLY want them to have learned this..
I don't know about 6 but, I do have a silly dream unit type is like them to do. I'd really like them to come up with a way to utilize the flotilla fork stand and bar to do 'supported' ships or 'convoys'. Their stats then being a amalgamation of give and take between the two ships in the formation.
So like the Rebels can have a base with a GR-75 and a Nebulon B mounted on it with the fork. The unit card is called a 'Medical Convoy'. Battery RRL/RL/RL and L anti squad. It has 6 hull, 3/1/2 shields, evade-brace-brace-redirect suite. Upgrade bar is crew-crew-support team-fleet support-defensive retro-turbolaser.
There are dozens of ways it could be interpreted in game mechanics of course. But the variety of formations you could add could really help distinguish your fleets role and more visual models on the board without having more actual components makes it look and feel more like an Armada.
Think about it, you could have:
Escort convoy: Raider/Gozanti
Supported Frigate: Nebulon/CR-90
Blockade Wing: Arquitens/Raider
Supply Flotilla: CR-90/GR-75

Again a single Quasar does not mean its suddenly a rebel ship.
I remember as a kid reading The Truce at Bakura and being so confused at how which ship was which. In my mind the description of the Quasar sounded Imperial.

When we only see an imp one for part of an episode it kinda does. At least as far as FFG is concerned I would think so.

In Rogue One? Where? I haven't seen or heard any mention of them or n the rebel fleet. We've seen what appears to be Hammerhead Corvettes.
The SSD is featured in art for multiple cards in the Pheonix Home expansion (and they never fought each other in fiction, AFAIK) so I think it's a safe bet that the SSD will be in the next 2 waves.
