Scum (Bossk, Dengar maybe Greedo)

By JarJarBot, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

At work thinking of a scum list. I've always wanted to use Bossk, Dengar seems pretty cool and ever since Greedo came out I wanted to try him out. There's two versions of this list though with one involving agreed I and wanted some feedback and ideas.

Bossk- 8

Dengar- 7

Greedo- 4

Hired Guns- 4

HK- 8

Gideon/3PO- 6

Devious Schemes - 1

Prey on the Weak - 1

And then any ideas for the last point?

The other list was swapping out Greedo and the HGs for another deployment of HK Droids.

So HK v. 1 HG plus Greedo which would be preferable? Also working on a command deck. Any suggestions there? Thanks guys.

  1. Dengar is terrible, cut him & Prey on the Weak (or use your spare point) and run more HKs
  2. You're going to want stuff from the new Jabba wave; lots of stuff for Hunters and Scum in there. Off the top of my head Vinto and Jabba would both fit well here. As would the new Assassinate & Tools for the Job Command Cards revealed here https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/10/7/inside-the-palace/

Dengar is a clear cut example of bad pricing. When you look at Obi Wan, for 7 points, there is just no reason he and Dengar should be the same cost. It is what happens to most games, however. The need to put out more and more content inevitably leads to unfairly priced characters.

This is all true . . . but I would still run Dengar if you haven't played him. He will die quickly but he is fun. If you pick your targets well, he can give people trouble. Gideon can help his movement, and damage. Actually his ability gives him a surge if you don't have a harmful condition, I always thought explosive armaments might work on him. The HKs are much better than he'll ever be, but it's Dengar, I always feel bad about him. The other bounty hunters always make fun of him. Don't forget your Nexu. They are always good with 3Po and Gideon as well.

I've tried Dengar a good bit, cause like many others - I want to like him and the idea of him. But he just doesn't cut it. Perhaps if another really strong Hostile Condition comes about, as he can help pile 'em up and perhaps now that the game turns more towards slightly bigger dudes. But he's still behind. He dies very quickly. Sadly, because he is fun to use.

I agree Dengar can be fun to play, particularly in missions in the campaign. However, if you're asking for advice on how to improve a skirmish list competitively, he's the first thing to cut.

I agree that another really strong negative condition in the game could make him much more viable, but have strong doubts about the likelihood of that.

If Dengar was priced at 4 or 5, hed be really good.

I'm not sure if this'll factor into your decision, but Gideon+C-3PO is 5 points not 6

Yup temp alliance was factored in. I never ran Dengar so never knew how effective he was besides me one shorting him once with Obi-Wan against a friend lol. I'll cut him and run more HKs for now and I'll definitely be including some Jabba stuff when it drops. That new mando lady looks very nice and 8 points I believe which is awesome.

If you run Jabba, dont short yourself with Gideon/3PO combo. Jabba adds a lot of cool stuff, but if you spend 12 pts on Jabba, Gid, and 3PO, your guys will be focused, but wont have enough IMO to compete.

I think Vinto will be good.

I dunno, it may not be as effective but

Jabba

Gideon

3PO

Ugnaught Tinkerer

HK prey on the weak

HK

HK

Is 40 pts

I'd probably drop 3po and Ugnaught for something else but lots of focused HKs can clear a room pretty quick

Played;

Bossk

rHK

rHK - Prey on the Weak

Hired Guns

Greedo

C3PO

Gideon

Temp Alliance

Devious Schemes

During my second match last night and beat my buddies twin list only losing one set of HKs and the hired Guns in the process. The map was the Leia one with the broken droids. I enjoy this list and will be testing it out some more. Depending on how Bossk does in the future I may replace him with the new mando lady, keep forgetting name hah.

I will always argue that HKs are one of the most (currently) overpowered unit in the game. Yea, if you get on top of them they crumple, but good luck getting to them and ignoring the rest of your opponents army while those dps cannons destroy your team.

I disagree, I think they are actually a very good card, but not overpowered. They don't really have great damage, or health. They do have nice abilities and 3 dice attacks help mitigate poor rolling usually. But with the maps being designed the way they are, most of the time an HK can't stay out of range for more than a turn or so, meaning he's going down. When my HKs take shots, they die super fast. There are also mostly really lousy droid cards and Hunter cards weren't really a thing until recently
