Lyraeus, where are you?

By Thraug, in Star Wars: Armada

See, that just means he's satisfying his "I can do that better than my BN CDR/DIV CDR/Corps CDR" urge instead

Armada must be very unsatisfying in that regard. Marauder1983 is someone who can barely keep his plastic ships on the field, whereas in Real Life, he makes the trains run on time.

Egg,

Am I allowed to poke fun at someone if they're still with us, and have the capacity to poke back

Don't fault my fumbling fingers on the battle field that accidentally move ships of the line. Some would call that power one of the gods...or over excited fan

Also, no "I can do better" here. I am a novice among champions. I just love Star Wars, love gaming, and love pushing small plastic ships around going "pew pew". I believe in second chances, possibly third chances but not much beyond that. I believe in enjoying the free time I have to invest in the hobby and spending it with people I feel are going to enhance the experience and not detract from it. I think everyone can agree on that point. Having fun is paramount for everyone involved, on both sides of the table.

Indeed, and when it comes to our interpretations of 'fun', you and I are fairly similar, trying to expand the game into less standard forms of play. I'm going to miss you, because we were thinking on similar lines, and then Corellian Conflict was announced.

And, yes, this game is about that imagination, and sharing it with others - others whose company we enjoy. Building a community is part of that, and given our demographics, that means having to include a number of oddballs.

Lyraeus is certainly one of the odder oddballs, and I do feel that I really tried to find ways to keep him included. That got harder and harder the more he expressed opinions that were not inclusive towards others. You mentioned the allegations of body shaming, which I also heard. There was more. There are commonplace phrases about male and female geese and pots and kettles that might be appropriate here. That's where it ultimately fell apart for him, I think. He alienated some of his closest allies and apologists - those who would have argued for his re-inclusion across the river. He was too proud or despondent to try to repair those, and as a result he made himself a pariah.

Anyway, I wouldn't be mentioning all this if I didn't think it was an illustrative case of how our gamer communities have to deal with people of different stripes, and some people whose weird stripes don't play well with the stripes of others. I'm not agonizing over it too much, but I do wish it would have gone better.

Wargaming tends to attract us, and has since the beginning of the hobby.

Meh. I liked Lyr fine, tho I saw his faults. I never met him outside of forums/vassal, so can't speak of any of his local issues.

I also take internet boards very non-seriously and am terribly hard to offend, or get riled on them.

While we are at it, has anyone seem Corellian Corvette or Moffzen recently??

Zen made a minor resurgence a few weeks ago, but he's gone dark again. I seek to recall he had some kind of significant irl something going on, for... work, maybe?
