BLACK MARKET SLICER TOOLS BUILD

By kamenhanji, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I just tried this build last week.

It's fun, but I wonder can it be more effective?

Here's the list

SHADOW CASTER (Asajj Ventress) 37

PTL 3
Tactician 2
Feedback Array 2
Rigged Cargo Chute 1
CounterMeasures 3

4*
Z-95 HEADHUNTER (Binarye Pirate) 12
Black Market Slicer Tools 1

TOTAL: 100

Thanks for any opinion anyway.

I think you are overinvesting on the BMST. One or two is plenty, any more and you'll find that feedback array is just as, if not more effective. Also, realize that you will need to be consistent on any sort of weaponized stress with BMST, because you are giving them stress in the combat phase, and unless you somehow grabbed Airen Cracken over to the S&V pool, you aren't going to be able to take advantage of it same turn. And I think you have a really expensive stress dealer. Why not try this?

4-LOM — G-1A Starfighter 27
Stay On Target 2
Navigator 3
Advanced Sensors 3
Black Market Slicer Tools 1
Tractor Beam 1
Experimental Interface 3
Mist Hunter 0
Ship Total: 40
40 points is 8 less than your current build, but you have the advantage of BMST on board, a way to use it without giving up your action, and a way to add more goodies to the party in the form of tractor tokens.
That opens you up to using Ventress a but more offensively:
Asajj Ventress — Lancer-class Pursuit Craft 37
Fearlessness 1
Ketsu Onyo 1
Black Market Slicer Tools 1
Rigged Cargo Chute 1
Gyroscopic Targeting 2
Shadow Caster 3
Ship Total: 46
Now you're really able to mess with people when the tractor tokens start coming out. This also makes the attacks of those two far more deadly, and allows you to control positions a lot better.
Also gives you just enough room for a standard bug zapper Z. Or you could sub in the BMST on that as well and get a 1 pt initiative bid. Or for even more fun, you could use an EMP Device just for that one game when you get an opponent stressed, ioned, and tractored all at the same time. Lolz to be had.
I think these two ships synergize nicely with BMST. The hardest thing about it is that it costs an action, and sometimes that can be a real drag, especially for a 50/50 shot for it to do nothing. The thing is now though, you aren't having one ship stress and the others trying to get in range of it. It's now just a matter of keeping range, which shouldn't be difficult to do considering all the tractor tokens on the table. Both being PS 6 also allows you to choose the order in which they move, which may help in a few situations with blocks or something. 4-LOM is just trying to make sure he gets range 1 on something, which is also why that tractor on him and Ventress is so nice (you can't double tap, but it's still nice to reposition your opponent exactly where you want them).
You could drop rigged cargo chute and something else for a few more points to try to get the pirate with some missiles on it. Might be unnecessary, but is an avenue to take.

Thank for your suggestion.

At first I just want to play BMST,but as you say, it has only 50% chance but cost one action.

It's fun, but I think you are right about the firepower and cost.

I'll try it this weekend, and make some change maybe.

Thank you so much~
