Inertial dampeners with Kanan, skip action

By ObiWan, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I have the smuggling compartment/inertial dampener on the millennium Falcon with Kanan as crew I can do a white 0 manuever, get a stress then remove it with Kanan.

My question is, if another ship moves earlier and overlaps my template (bumps into me) does my 0 manuever count as a manuever which, "overlaps another ship" thus preventing me from taking an action.

The relative quote from the rules reference is:

"A ship must skip its “Perform Action” step if it overlapped another ship while executing a maneuver"

No, using the stop manoeuvre does not cause an overlap, and another ship overlapping you does not cause you to skip your Perform Action step.

However, you will be "touching" that ship, so you can't perform an attack on that ship until one of you moves away from the other.

Current consensus is that you probably don't clear the ID stress with Kanan anyway so it's a moot pont.

On card like ID that are "Perform a maneuver. Then receive a stress token" Kanan happens between "Perform a manuever" and "then receive a stress token".

As above, Kana does not work with ID. He doesn't work with daredevil either.

Kanan and ID both trigger after you execute a white manuever so you can choose the order they activate in. It is the same as using the new Falcon title with Kanan....right?

Per faq:

"Kanan’s ability triggers after the Clean Up substep of

the Execute Maneuver step.

If a friendly ship at Range 1–2 executes a white

maneuver and overlaps a debris cloud, Kanan’s ability

can remove the stress token gained from the debris

cloud."

It seems like the clean up phase happens after the "then receive 1stress token"

No, ID triggers when you reveal a maneuver.

"When you reveal your maneuver, you may discard this card to instead perform a white (0 ) maneuver. Then receive 1 stress token."

The new Falcon title happens after you execute a maneuver which gives it the same timing as Kanan.

"When you reveal your maneuver, you may discard this card to instead perform a white (0 ) maneuver."

Kanan triggers.

"Then receive 1 stress token."
