Regional Defender List 3rd Ship Options

Hi, making list to take to upcoming regionals and been liking duel defenders but been a bit undecided on the 3rd ship.

I guess it comes down to can any of the options be better than palp. I like to think they can all contribute to the game in ways that are better than palp but palp is tried and true and works.

I personally like 3 better than the others if you aren't using palp. 2 more ships to have to shoot and 2 more for your opponent to worry about is better than one. Crack squads are pretty tried and true at this point as well. As to which I would choose, I would still choose Palpmobile. The ability is just too good. My palp survived 3 turns of being shot at when he had 1 health left today because he's palp and he just kept giving himself evades to the opponent's one hit. Or they would be obstructed and roll 2 hits on him being focused and he would roll focus blank and give himself two evades because he's palp. All of this, of course, while my other ships have closed in and start peppering him with shots. I like it, but fly what you like. If two TIE fighters in lineup makes you happy, then do that. If palp's more your thing, then watch out for stray lightning bolts as you fly him. It's better that you like a list and know the list rather than what everyone feels is competitive.

I kinda like 5. 3 /x7 Defenders (I am assuming /x7 throughout) is 18 health beahind 3 agility and (normally) an Evade and Focus every turn.

As much as I love Omega Leader, I think he really only shines in list where Palp can make his poor dice mods worth it, so I'd strike 2 from the list.

1 is an obvious meta staple, and strictly up to your preference. I always prefer adding some extra nonsense to my shuttles, so this list really isn't one I enjoy. No room for Sensor Jammer or the title. SJ works great when paired with Juke in a list, and the title is fantastic for Vessery. Though they would be mostly redundant together.

Out of all of these, 5 is something I think I'd actually try.

Number 5 is tried and true staple as well. i was on a search last night for a defenders list to fly (I have bitten the bullet and will be preparing for regionals with defenders as well), and i like ps1 defenders. so when i went to search list juggler (p=deltasquadron) your number 5 list was like 10 of the first 15. solid build.

Inquisitor will often spend his TL (or want to) before Vessery can take advantage of it, so this doesn't have great synergy.

#4 is the most fun to me, but probably not the best. If you do fly #4, your PS is too low to worry about a bid. I spend the extra point on mk2 engine for Vessery in case you run into Asajj or a stresshog.

I have played with the omega list a bit and while it has great potential I feel that omega is often not pulling his weight as I often over protect him.

The double crack ties is actually quite good as they either draw fire from the big guys or are left alone where they become solid annoyance to my opponent. But they do lack a bit of flair and often get blatted quickly.

Haven't played an Inquisitor variation, I think I would rather drop juke from vess and go full Ryad and full Inquisitor with just a adaptability Vess . Inq spending his lock then doesn't matter as Ryad can spot just fine when she has PTL.

With the expected mass defenders having a bid is very handy with lots of ryad and vess about. Could see some palp defenders without Mk2 engines on ryad for this reason.

I've been playing nr 5 for a couple of months now and have still not lost with it. Getting those blocks in with the PS1 defender is often a game winner, and three defenders (while in no way indestructible) can really be hard to take down. I used to play palp aces and while I would consider using him instead of the PS1 for that one die modification, I've found that that extra defender often gives more in terms of survivability and actual damage output for my list than adding a Lambda.

But the two variations obviously fly very differently.
