Trip T70s

By MartnAR, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been thinking about flying a combination of Snap and Ello and after much tinkering, I came up with this very mobile list:

Snap Wexley (28):

- Wired 1

- R2 Astromech 1

- Primed Thrusters 1

- Vectored Thrusters 2

Ello Asty (30):

- Daredevil 3

- BB-8 2

- Black One 1

- Autothrusters 2

Blue Ace (27):

- R3-A2 2

- Integrated Astromech 0

Total: 100 points

Basically, what I'm thinking is Snap and Ello are gonna be pretty mobile flying around enemy ships, while Blue Ace uses his boost to get out of arcs and stress bots everybody. Any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe give Ello Primed thrusters instead of title but I also think that the title would benefit Snap if they happen to finish within range of each other.

Blue Ace really, really needs primed thrusters - if he's using R3-A2, he's going to be stressed a lot. I honestly think you'd get more mileage out of giving him Primed Thrusters than taking Black One (because Ello moves before Vader or Omega Leader).

"Snap" - with "Wired" and primed thrusters you can pull off talon rolls and not really care. Which is nice. I've been thinking about a Daredevil/Pattern Analyser build for him, but this works too. You lose a hitpoint relative to Integrated Astromech, but Barrel Roll is a pretty **** effective tool. Talon rolling, then boosting, then barrel rolling gives you some pretty insane movement options.

Ello.....erk. I'm not convinced about daredevil. Daredevil stresses you - whilst a talon roll doesn't. And BB-8 is nice, but without primed thrusters you can't use him if you're using a green move to burn off stress, and if you're using a talon roll that's not green either. And Daredevil isn't a boost, so doesn't trigger Black One. Essentially he feels like he's got a load of abilities which don't complement each other.

I'd probably go BB-8/Primed Thrusters/Push The Limit and stick with Integrated Astromech - that way either you can dial in a green move and use BB-8 for action economy, or do a talon roll, boost and still barrel roll next turn as you pull out of the talon.

Thanks, I didn't think about prime thrusters on Blue Ace. And as soon as I posted this, I went back to the drawing board with Ello because, like you said, I'm restricting a lot of his movements with Daredevil. Maybe Predator or PtL would be a better addition. But if I'm going to stress him, I need to find a way to remove it asap. Pattern Analyzer may be a solution but it makes him a tad predictable.

Edit: Just realized that BB-8 and PtL on Ello would free up his stress after green move.

Yes. BB-8 essentially does the same as Pattern Analyser - lets you push without stressing yourself, so you don't need both. On the other hand, primed thrusters is a nice trick because otherwise you can't use him if you start the turn stressed.

And - for that matter - with primed thrusters you could start a turn stressed, dial in a green move, barrel roll and still push to boost (then getting rid of one stress token). A niche use, but lots of niches all add up - the more you have, the less predictable your ship is.
