An expansion to build upon the Core set for the family/casual players feels like a missed opportunity to have left out.
Am I the only one who wish for a Imperial/Rebel expansion?
You could buy these nifty things called "expansions" or the other (red/blue) core set. You could also buy multiple copies of the same core set.
What is an "Imperial/Rebel - Family/Casual" expansion?
Don't be dense, he's looking for a game expansion built on the core. Not magic the gathering packs across one ship.
It's a little confusing what you're asking for. The expansions that exist are built upon the core set. That's what makes them "expansions".
Are you looking for some large expansion that includes a mix of Imperial and Rebel ships that, for example, a family could pick up and play with casually without having to buy multiples of the single-fighter expansion packs?

In my opinion the most excellent and very well design Heroes of the Aturi Cluster campaign fits this perfectly.. Co-op and casual.. but not official. And you need to print yourself. FFG is doing that for Armada with the Correlian Conflict campaign box and i feel they should have done the same for X-wing a long time ago..
Edited by GilmoreDKSince people dont seem to get the idea.
I was thinking of a dual ship expansion, like Imperial Aces or HotR, but with 1 Imperial and 1 Rebel ship in it.

Except you need a very large collection of ships to run it.
You know, I've been wondering if that's what SWX58 is going to be. Most seem agree a new Core Set isn't needed but it would make a lot of sense for them to release a product closely tied to Rogue One. Could be "Rogue One Expansion" or some such. This could even be 1 ship from all 3 factions.

It's never dense to ask for clarification, it's your attitude that's dense.
Since people dont seem to get the idea.

As other people have said, just buy one other Imperial expansion and one other Rebel expansion and you have your core set expansion.
Wave 1
Y-Wing Expansion Pack + TIE Advanced Expansion Pack
Wave 2
A-Wing Expansion Pack + TIE Interceptor Expansion Pack
If you mean something more than that, like more asteroids, or more missions,
or something else we can only guess what you have in mind unless you expound on your own idea.
Edited by gabe69velasquezOne Imperial Aces and one Imperial Veterans pack would greatly improve on what you are able to do and give you 3 new ships, 2 Rebel and 2 of the same Imperial. This is assuming that all you have is the original Core Set. Imperial Veterans is another option that would give you 2 new Imperial ships. Purchasing the opposite core set to what you already have would also give you Rebel and Imperial ships. Options options options...
Jesus no.
Many semi-casual (or straight casual) players try to limit their expenses by only buying ships from one faction that they play. Already they complain that sometimes the card they need is in another faction's expansion but at least they can get a copy of it on e-bay, borrow it from a friend or simply use something else. Force them to buy ships from a faction they don't play and they're gonna go bananas and scream murder at FFG milking them.
Im by no Means casual. The only thing I dont own is The Ghost ![]()
I just think it would be a great way to catering the game towards less competetive players as well

I think it's a cool idea, I prefer the multi set packs becuase you get a mision usually. I think some of the missions are really fun and would like to see more in the way of missions.

I literally rolled my eyes when I read this. It isn't a cooperative game you know;
Even if you are not trying to play with hyper-efficient killing-machine builds it's still a battle.
If what you are going for is some hook to get non-tournament players into the game then say that.
It's an odd angle, but I'd say some of the things it could include would be:
Reprints of all cards that have had an erratum.
Maybe something like 1 of each of the small ships from the first two waves, with only generic pilots.
Alternatively, 1 Y-wing 2.0 and TIE Advanced 2.0, with 6 asteroid miniatures.
New missions that include all the ships in the core set and core expansion set,
with more mission tokens like the Escape Pod and different Cargo Pods.
Upgrade cards that are mission or scenario specific, like an Escape Pod upgrade.
More cooperative slanted upgrade cards that don't rely on support ships specifically,
or a deck of random objectives that is supported by a mission or scenario rules structure.
Rules for surprise battles where you keep all your pilot/upgrade cards secret (face down) until used.
A deck of Star Wars trivia cards, where a defender gets and extra point of damage
if during the attack the defending player answers the Attacking players dealt card wrong.
A printed copy of the Rules Reference booklet.
Etcetera, etcetera, ...
