I believe so, and there are also some Faith/Chaos powers that have bonus effects based on how much Corruption you have accumulated. I would assume Armour of Contempt to protect you from that as well.

I only play DH and DH2 but I would surmise that it allows the character to ignore when his Corruption passes the threshold where he has to roll for a Malignancy and a Mutation. That seems awfully powerful however.
