Does TLT Jan Ors Have a Place?

I love her ability, but sadly I don't see her mentioned much here. Where do you like to put her?

Not too much experience with it, as a loaded out Jan costs so much. I did use her with Miranda (homing missiles!) to set up a hilarious 6 dice homing missile attack in one game. I do see Jan being used from time to time though. She's a great support ship that unfortunately ends up costing as much as an ace slot and doesn't do anything on her own. She's like wedge (who I use all the time anyway), a great ability on a mediocre ship that can and will die if your opponent wants it to.

I had a pretty fun game using Jan Ors + Dorsal Turret paired with Norra + Predator + Finn + Experimental Interface + R7-T1. I was able to get off a few rounds of firing 7 dice. Never got the 7 hits/crits that I was hoping for, but it was still a blast to play.

I have had a lot of fun with Jan in the past. I haven't played around with her much lately, though. Her with TLT is pretty nice. Ah, I need to throw Vectored Thrusters on her and see how much that helps.

Never tried it because it's a bit spammy for my tastes - but it sounds like a giggle

How about 4 shots at PS12, 2 shots at PS10 and 1 at PS4?

As noted earlier, ordnance Miranda plus Jan with Ezra on board works well enough. Not going to shake the pillars of heaven or anything, but that extra die added to the attack is generally pure damage. She is relatively decent with Ezra allowing her to save her focus for defense while getting some measure of accuracy on her TLT shots. A few too many points to be "top-tier", but you can win a some games and have a good time with it regardless.

I've had a lot of fun with Jan. Here's a build with some newer cards that makes her a little more versatile, and costs less than your typical TLT Jan.

Jan Ors (32) - HWK-290

Wired (1), Dorsal Turret (3), Kanan Jarrus (3)

You can make her work fine if youre not super competitive

Thing is hwks are horribly slow and have about as much structural integrity as a slug in salt water

Being expensive on top of that really kills the mood

Biggs helps a bit

My 2 cents on this are that she is just too **** expensive. You can get more efficient ships for her steep price.

In the middle of a trio of Snap & Crack Shot A-Wings (oh, and give them Opportunist). ;)

I have been known in the past to play Jan alongside super dash:

Jan Ors

Moldy crow

engine upgrade

predator

Nien numb

Twin laser turret

That's 42 points, and slots in quite nicely with your bog-standard super dash build. With those upgrades the Hwk can just about keep up with dash, and the 5 dice HLC shot is highly amusing.

Although be warned - it's not super competitive. Or at least I never managed to fly it well enough to do particularly well with it.

I can easily recommend anyone to try it out... Just so long as you understand that it's not the best list out there by a long shot.

My friends played her with a Ghost+Phantom. Works pretty well, as you want to focus the Ghost more than her.

And 3AB or 5-6 attack dice are nasty.

It's fun but she has a minor case of Rhymerism

I ve had success with TLT Kyle Katarn rather than Jan.

I usually fly him like this:

I've done this before, placed pretty well in tournaments with this kind of build. Almost guaranteed raw damage is game changing. As with all Rebel lists, you have to fly hard to survive: keep enemies at Range 3 and coordinate your attacks. Its main weakness is against traditional Palp Aces or Rebel Stresshog lists.

It's not a tournament winning ship; there are precious few upgrades that will make the already expensive and fragile HWK more viable. The fact that I can do well with Jan is down to my experience with her and red dice greed.

I've had fun flying her in various games. Nothing serious, but I had a good time with it.

Nien Numb is a great crew as it allows you to turn all straights into green. So, that 4 Straight is a good option.

I've flown her with A-wings to try to boost their firing power and had moderate success. I even had a Tie Interceptor get in R1 of my Y-wing...right in it's face. I boosted it's main guns and it rolled 4 dice at R1. The Interceptor rolled one evade and had used it's Focus already. I one-shot a Tie Interceptor with a Y-wings main guns! That was worth it right there.

You can run her pretty cheap in an epic game for Corvette support duty.

She trades the corvette PS value for firing and bumps that corvette main gun.

I know somebody else did well in a small store tourney with Jan having an engine upgrade and TLT. I didn't play him, but I think he was using Jan's high PS to arc dodge. Pricey though!

Other than that, her place seems to be on the shelf... I still pull her out now and then but I don't get many opportunities to play 100 point games so there are so many other things I want to try.

I showed this once before in a thread for squad leader. But I have had good success with this set up.

the last 30 points add to taste. I usually use Jake or biggs. Jans great here cuz she can feed a TL and a extra dice to Nera for a 5 dice torp strike.

Oh right. Yes. Nien Numb is essential to Jan to provide more green stress relief cheaply.

The common thing amongst these posts is the word "fun." Jan Ors is hilarious to use for that massive, one time attack but you won't see her often at a tournament.

Personally:

Miranda - Autoblaster Turret - Long Range Scanners - Homing Missile

Jan Ors - TLT - Wired

Add to taste.

That alpha strike is lethal. Six dice, no evade token, full focus and re-rolls. Its going to hit. I have one shot Soontir, Carnor, Inquisitor, Valen, Guri, Talonbane AND Fenn Rau with that. Also, the potential four dice Autoblaster is quite scary.

Another "fun" combo is:

Lothal Rebel - Fire Control - Rey Crew and Finn Crew
Jan Ors - TLT - Wired - Kyle

Again, add to taste. (Roark for a PS12 Rebel??)

That Lothal, at range one has six red dice PLUS Finn's blank, with that juicy focus/target lock combo we all know and love.

Just be sure to ask your opponent if its ok to borrow one of their red dice for this attack . . . ;)

And speed to one of the slowest ships in the game

I ran her (VI, Chewbacca, autoblaster, engine, title) with superDash in a regional some waves ago, missing top cut on the last game because of some dice curse... it was fun to roll 5 F+Tl dice all day long and Jan could put some unexpected damage sometimes.

Now i'm afraid she could be a little too fragile, which is a pity :(
