Shed a tear for yet one more hopeless Corran build:
Corran Horn (35)
- Push the Limit (3)
- Engine Upgrade (4)
- Fire Control System (2)
- R5-P9 (3) hear me out..
Chopper or Lothal Rebel (35-37)
- Autoblaster Turret (2)
- Fire Control System (2)
- Experimental Interface (3)
- Kanan Jarrus (3)
- Jyn Erso (3) see R5-P9
----- Total 96-98 points -----
I call it the Corran and the BFG. Big F@#%ing Giver, or The Disappointment.
Approach:
You fly these two like you would Lothal/Biggs, the only difference is Biggs is Corran. Then it acts a lot like Dengaroo. Except Corran cares about stress...
I'm considering making the points for Kanan pilot and finding a different way to help Corran - but the gist is keep them close and let Corran shine. Focuses make the dream work. Or so says Poe.
Considered:
Kanan Enable
VCX-100: · Kanan Jarrus (38)
- Autoblaster Turret (2)
- Fire Control System (2)
- Experimental Interface (3)
- Jyn Erso (2)
- Recon Specialist (3)
E-Wing: · Corran Horn (35)
- Push The Limit (3)
- Fire Control System (2) or Advanced Sensors (3)
- R2-D2 (4)
- Engine Upgrade (4)
----- 98-99 points -----
Corran looks so much better at 50 points. Do you replace Recon Specialist with Jan Ors? Let Corran worry about repositioning? Getting that target lock and range one?
Okay, so maybe Poe is the "right" answer. I need the best 45-50 point Poe build, stat. Perhaps place a TLT on Kanan with the leftover points?
Poe (HotR) (33)
- Push (3) or what?
- Sensor Cluster or Pattern Analyzer (2)
- R5-P9 (3)
- Autothrusters (2)
- Black One (1)
Another hopeful Corran list
I can see where you are going with this. If you plan on feeding an Ace with Focus tokens, why not run Poe instead as he can use them to modify rolls and still spend them to regain a shield at the end. Maybe something like this.
43 Poe (PS9) (33), PTL (3), R5-P9 (3), Pattern Analyser (2), AutoThrusters (2)
Slightly cheaper than Corran (which gives you points for Kanan) but better in some regards IMHO. He is much less vulnerable to BMSTs than Corran because he has an extra hull point.
Even better, PA allows you to use PTL without ending up stressed if you are pulling green maneuvers.

I think the double-tap is so much better than Poe's ability, but maybe his easy regen setup i.e. actual synergy with R5-P9, is worth it.
Edited by Rinzler in a TieIf you like Corran, fly Corran. To deliver Focus for Corran, I would take Esege with RecSpec, Rey or Jyn. Use the rest of your points for Biggs to keep Esege alive or another cheap ace to focus fire with Corran.
Biggs doesn't fit. I'll be going now.
Yeah, the second build feels much stronger than the first one.
Personally I'm still a big fan of Corran, but if you're going to ptl then I'd look at advanced sensors over fire control system.
Yes, the fcs is very nice for the double tap, but if you want to respect BMST (and who doesn't these days?) then advanced sensors will let you ptl without leaving the stress hanging around for the slicer tools to take advantage of. (besides the added bonus of making your k-turns a bit easier and more profitable.)
Besides, if you play Jynn on Kanan then you should be able to pass enough focus for corran to modify both attacks anyway. With a 2 point bid you could easily afford to make that switch.
As for Kanan: He looks fine in that build. I actually prefer the rec-spec over Jan ors here because if you're handing off focus to Corran you still want to be able to keep a couple of tokens for yourself.
That clocks in at 99 points.
Thoughts on the Turret slot?
ABT is great for covering your back against slippery Aces and is my normal default choice when not running the docked Phantom. If I have the Phantom there, I normally try and maximise the value of the double-shot which I find FCS + TLT is great for.
You can completely run Corran. Run him with Wes and Biggs. Something like this:
Corran Horn:
- Veteran Instincts
- Fire-Control System
- R2-D2
Wes Janson:
- Veteran Instincts
- R3-A2
- Integrated Astromech
Biggs Darklighter:
- R4-D6
- Integrated Astromech
That clocks in at 99 points.

On the ghost I feel like you're pretty much choosing between ion, tlt, and abt.
Dorsal & blaster just don't do enough to justify their points on the ghost (IMO).
Of the 3, you only really have the points to run the autoblaster. And it's a perfectly good turret, great for punishing slippery ships that get a little too close.
The only time I flat out wouldn't play the autoblaster on the ghost is when there's a phantom docked, that's only because you then want to invest a bit more heavily in the turret so you can get consistent amounts of attacks with it.
Since you're not running an attack shuttle I'd say the autoblaster turret is just fine, and probably the best turret you could get away with on this build.

Love this list - it's an instant classic. I was especially rooting for it when I heard Heaver had interest in it.
Alas, I'm not convinced it will survive FAQ 4.2.2. Biggs was a stop-gap for Wes' squishy chassis to deliver on his ability and R3-A2. More importantly, though, pre-nerf Biggs allowed skinny Corran builds like this to even exist.
I think Rebels have to rely on the hulks in their ranks (K-Wings, ARC-170s, VCX-100s, and to a lesser extent, YT-series) to hold their own against Defenders and Party Buses.
If I said I was excited to see the meta at World's that wouldn't be doing it justice - if good players take edge-case lists that were pushed out by JM5ks we're going to see some of this game's best match-ups.
(as long as Defenders and TLTs don't flood it)

Could not have said it better myself. But I think Biggs is still very viable, you just have to fly a bit more in formation. I have a list I want to run when the next real tournament happens at my local store. I will post about it a bit later, but I think it could take some people by surprise. If I don't like the list after playing it in some pre-tournament games, I will probably turn to something like that Wes, Corran, Biggs list.
