Couple Questions

By Toqtamish, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Just finished turn two of a practice game with Stark vs Lannister, core set decks.

1) With an attached location like Lord Eddard's Chambers and Queen Cersei's Chambers can I kneel those locations to pay influence costs still ?

2) When counting STR for dominance phase would an effect like Winterfell Castle that gives all my Stark characters +1 STR be counted for ?

Yes. The type of card (be it attachment, location or character) doesn't matter.

Yes, why not? It gives +1 as a constant effect. There is no condition to meet ("during challenges" for example).

I was not sure if it was just based on printed STR or not.

Another question:

Ser Ilyn Payne's ability to kill a character in the marshalling phase. Can that be used during the marshalling phase that he is brought into play during ?

Ok. If a card/rule doesn't say "printed STR", then it's always current STR.

Yes. The same with reducing cost locations.

Thanks.

What is the benefit if any of attaching a chamber's to your House card ?

it cannot be targeted by location control

To expand on what Lars said, when you attach the Chambers to your House card, it enters play as an attachment, not a location. Therefore, anything that affects locations (like Pyromancer's Apprentice or the plot Fleeing to the Wall, for example) cannot affect your Chambers. This will usually protect your gold and influence from most players and any anti-location cards they may have in their decks.

Keep in mind, though, that when you do attach it to your House card, it becomes susceptible to any anti-attachment cards your opponent may have (that you wouldn't be concerned about if you had played it as a location). So while Chambers are usually safer as attachments against most Houses, they are usually safer as locations against Targaryen.

When playing the chambers as an attachment, do they trigger Xaro's home? I'm guessing so.

Yes. You played it as an attachment, so the printed card type isn't important.

Interestingly enough, you can play the Chambers as an attachment and kneel it to pay the cost of Xaro's Home in Response to itself.

Thanks. Much appreciated!
