Pre-Quadjumper preview hype- What are you looking forward to most?

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

The price of the PS1 generic pilot.

I can now run a 19-point Ion Scyk. Will there be a good 19-point Quadjumper build?

Yes. Unkar Plutt, Ketsu Crew, Hypercomm.

Primed Thrusters seem like they'd be the way to go with Unkar. They let him barrel-roll to block even when stressed.

Yeah, that's true, assuming that the reverse manoeuvre(s) are red.

I reckon the Quadjumper will be the last revealed due to it being the most interesting. I reckon we will have the TIE Striker and U wing before the Quad.

Maybe, if FFG are feeling really trolly, they will announce the missing SKU58 before the Quadjumper.

In the past FFG has done the reveals in the order the ships were listed in the wave preview article. I'd be surprised if they had any preview articles before the Quadjumper.

This is true. Only reason I think they make break the mould is simply because it is the most interesting ship this wave.

TIE Striker has already revealed it has a pre-move boost, which is its niche. Don't get me wrong, that's nice and all but its no reverse move. Also, not a lot of cards to talk about in that preview.

U wing has a flip title. . again, nice, nothing we haven't had before and . . its no reverse move. Also, would be nice to see what over costed crew options the Rebels are about to get.

For this reason, I would hold off revealing it personally.

Also, as the dial is again, a point of interest on this ship, when was the last time we had a dial reveal? I've heard they don't do that any more due to Vassel,

I'm excited to see if that Scavenging Claw is going to be any good.

Spatial Tractor-whatever could also be fun.

I think the most exciting thing will be the cost of the generics though. Let's hope FFG doesn't continue their streak.

Part of me wants the Spatial Tractor to be able to move large base ships whilst the other part of me is concerned that it will actually do that. :(

We didn't get any for wave 9 IIRC. So wave 8 would be the last time.

The Claaaaaaw.

Seriously where is the preview. I am actually growing to hate Admiral Ackbar when I surf back to FFG and see his fish face as the most recent articly still. You hear that FFG web lackeys? You're making me hate Ackbar now! Ackbar! Does that make you happy?

We got the SF dial in a preview I'm pretty sure.

And Viktus where have you heard this rumor about them not revealing dials due to vassal? It seems baseless from all accounts I have heard it. There is a difference between knowing that is why they are doing it, and FFG simply revealing less dials for the sake of less pre-ship release proxying.

Yup, you're right, I just checked.

A few people have been spouting this rumour but I don't think I've seen any official word on the matter.

It is purely a rumour I am sure. I've heard a few people say it at tournaments and then you try to think back to the last time you saw a dial preview in an article and it kind of makes sense.

This could just be anti-vassel propaganda though. Not everyone likes uses it.

That being said, I would like to see the dial of the Quadjumper. I predict no K turns!

And huge ships have bad agility to begin with so these will mostly hit.

Maybe the fact that Ackbar is there is because there won't be a preview this Monday and it simply is. . . . a trap.

He tried to warn us, but we didn't listen. .

The ARC-170 dial wasn't actually spoiled but it might as well have been since the description of the dial that was provided in the article only really fit together one way that made sense.

I'm going to go ahead and make the prediction that "Score to Settle" will work both ways. In that both you AND the ship you pick get to change a focus to a crit when attacking each other.

Otherwise, why all the text on the condition? The upgrade card itself already covers the scenario of you attacking the other guy. And the condition itself seems to have similar wording, but with the words "condition card" swapped for "upgrade card"

Well, Ackbar just got replaced by DOOM.

You mean the huge multinational corporation that bought ffg doesn't like people playing its product for free prior to a release date? Wow no way that almost never happens.

Good job, this thread jinxed it.

Also, FFG has never been real pleased with things like Vassal and OCTGN.

Noooo...first DOOM and now a Runewars update...

Either its gonna be late or no preview. which is odd, usually they reveal the wave back to back.

I hope you're wrong, because that would make it only very slightly better than Greedo and probably worse than Adaptabilty (and Trickshot) most of the time.

I assume it's a condition card because they wanted to have a condition card for each of the factions (even though it's not scum only, but it's in a scum box).

I'm always very, very curious about the upgrade cards. I like how they can enhance existing ships, which can help to bring them back into the game :)

An upgrade that somehow makes the Rebel HWK really good.

guess I gotta look forward to the preview itself

I mean, it's free. Agent Kallus has a similar effect and costs two points. Yes, there's going to be a downside to the 0-point Kallus.

Not to mention Kallus is faction specific and takes a crew.

Theres no way its a factionless card that does the same exact thing for FREE and takes an EPT instead of a crew so anybody with an EPT can use it. There has to be a negative effect.

Also, FFG has never been real pleased with things like Vassal and OCTGN.

If FFG wanted to shut down Vassal's X-Wing module, it would take 1 lawyer 5 minutes of work.

Moreover: the dude who does (the majority of?) the work of building and maintaining the X-Wing Vassal module regularly posts patch notes to this very forum. The (FFG Approved) pinned topic at the top of this forum has several links to help folks get the Vassal plugin up and running.

Whether or not they _like_ it is debatable, but I think they know better than to go after their most dedicated fans. And for several years they have not. They may have turned a blind eye towards Vassal, but we're certainly talking about it in earshot- and they're not saying anything about it.
