New Chewy: trigger twice?

By dotswarlock, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Here's an interesting question that occured to me yesterday:

Rules Reference page 8, card abilities: "A card ability cannot be resolved more than once during the timing specified on the card."

New Chewy: "After another friendly ship at Range 1-3 is destroyed (but has not fled the battlefield), you may perform an attack."

In the instance where a single attack would destroy 2 ships (ruthlessness, assault missile, a huge ship squishing two ships, etc), would Chewy's ability trigger twice or would the fact that both ships are destroyed at the same time limit Chewy to only attacking once?

Twice. Each separate ship death is a separate opportunity.

You couldn't trigger him more than once from the same individual ship dying, but if an attack kills more than one, he triggers once for each one.

What if you had cross faction and someone took out tel twice in one round? i know its hypothetical but still, the design space is open for it on rebel ships

Tel doesn't die the first time, so in this hypothetical situation, Chewie only triggers the second time an attack drops Tel. Same as Dead Man's Switch.

i had forgotten about dead man switch interaction with Tel. i should really keep myself up to date with it all lol.

That's what I thought, thanks!
