No you can't do this.

However some ships can benefit from Engine Techs so they can perform an extra speed 1 manauver.

A maneuver command (either dial or token) will allow you to change your speed, but you still may only go your max speed.

Remember that you cannot change speed without a command.

The RRG covers it, probably in the Command section.

• Each ship’s maximum speed is indicated on its speed chart. If a ship does not have any yaw values in a speed column, it cannot accelerate to that speed.

There are however the Engine Techs upgrade card and the Quantum Storm title that allow you to make an extra move after you moved. Meaning that if your ship goes at max speed it can technically move one unit further than the otherwise maximum possible. Note however that those extra moves have restrictions (QS doesn't allow you to yaw while ET allows yaws of speed one of the using ship). Also ET can be triggered only if you use a maneuver token or dial.

As you say, it is an extra move, that is restricted to the Speed Chart as well (You use your speed 1 details, for Engine Techs, for example)

I know, I just wanted to point out that there are ways to move more in one round than the top speed.

Yes! Of course there is no maximum speed for a spaceship! As long as a force is being applied to your ship by the engines, there is always acceleration and so your ship's speed keeps increasing! Buy several maneuver tools because you're going to need to make a very long one for those long dashes from one end of the board to the other, and into infinity and beyond!(out of play)

(Sorry I jest. No you cannot go above your maximum speed with a dial/token specifically)
