Bold Worlds predictions. Let's make em.

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

  • Garven, Dutch, Kyle and filler will make top 8 and will lose due to well placed bombs
  • 8 Academy pilots will meet in a mirror match in top 32
  • Someone out there will try Dengar pilot without the title
  • Every time BBBBZ will meet TLTx4 they will deserve each other
  • Someone with less than 1 year of experience in X-Wing will win Worlds.

Bold indeed, my friend. Bold indeed.

My prediction is that Paul Heaver will NOT win.

I think he's a great guy and I'd love to see him win again, but from listening to the podcasts he seems like he has lost the drive. He's even said he's rooting for the others guys and that he probably won't win this year. Plus, he said that he may miss the last day and play Imperial Assault instead.

Dash and Lothal Rebel in top 16 at least

ARCs (norra or braylen) in top 16

Asajj will be one of the most popular scum ships

The rest will be Dengaroo

Whoever wins will be Palp Defenders

- Poe Dameron isnt the most played t70 pilot in top 32.

- R3A2 and TLTs are the most popular upgrade card in top 8

- No Defenders in top 4

- Winner is from U.S. but Paul Heaver doesn't make top 32 cut.

- Someone flying last years Paul Heaver worlds list will top 8

- Winning list will have 3 ships.

Edited by Bigulf

Dash will make the top cut at least twice

There will be way too many f***ing /x7 Defenders

Dengaroo will make Top 4

Wave 9 will be poorly represented in the top cut

T-65s squad will win and ffg will decide not to relase swx58, which was intended to be x wing fix.

Bold Worlds predictions

  • Every Imperial list which makes top 16 will include a Tie Defender
  • At least 2 of the Top 8 lists will include Manaroo
  • For the first time at worlds, Paul will NOT fly Rebels
  • Rebels will perform admirably, but will only have 3 lists in the top 16.
  • For the first time in Worlds history, a Tie swarm will not make the cut
  • A list with a scyk will make top 32

Alright, your turn.

One right so far! haha.

Really doubting the scyk guess though...

Final table will be Scum with at least one PS9 ship versus Empire with at least one Defender. Scum will win due to having the most anti-defender tech available.

Eh, as Meatloaf said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

3/4 is alright. Where was Dash though!!!

  • The winning list will be a Scum list, but it won't be Dengaroo or Brobots
Agreed. I'm rooting for a Manaroo/Fangs list. Preferably a mindlink version.

My bold predictions

1. Palp Aces will not make the final table

2. Paul Heaver will fly scum

3. Defenders will not win.

4. ARC-170 will make final table.

:)

Alright, your turn.

Did all of these predictions come true?!

I think they were all correct but maybe one...

There were two Rebel lists in the Top 16 but there was an almost perfect tie for 16th place with another Rebel List so that kinda counts as "3 Rebel Lists in the Top 16"

Bold Worlds predictions

  • Every Imperial list which makes top 16 will include a Tie Defender My buddy Phil got in with a Deci and Phantom! Good job Phild0!
  • At least 2 of the Top 8 lists will include Manaroo Actually, 3! Manaroo is a problem as big, if not bigger than Palp. Yep. I said it.
  • For the first time at worlds, Paul will NOT fly Rebels
  • Rebels will perform admirably, but will only have 3 lists in the top 16. Kind of right? Only 2 made it, but they both performed well by making top 4.
  • For the first time in Worlds history, a Tie swarm will not make the cut. Sigh... One I wish didn't come true.
  • A list with a scyk will make top 32. Lol. Knew it was a long shot anyways.

I thought there was a list with one Scyk that was doing well but maybe it was just one of the first 2 days... Can't find it now.

Still not far off! :) Well done!

There was Garret Jost(sp?) at 25. And I'd give him credit for 3 rebel list since it was only based on SOS, out of the player's control completely that kept there from being three.

My BOLD prediction: Fenn Rau in top4

My prediction remains, Rebels win .

- Corran Horn and/or Miranda will be in the winning list

- Ghost and/or stressARC very possibly in the winning list

I'll cover my bases though.

If Scum wins, IG-88B will be in the winning list.

If Imperials win, Carnor Jax will be in the winning list.

Other predictions:

- TIE/D defender will make top8

- Contracted Scout doesn't even make top32

- 2x Quad TLT Y-wings in top16

It is time for the accounting! I'm pretty happy with some of my calls.

- Fenn Rau made top8 (predicting top4)

- Rebels didn't win, but that final match was stupid

- Corran & Miranda could have been the winning list (predicting Corran and/or Miranda)

- double ghost placed 18th, just out of the cut (predicting some ghost in top16)

- highest placed Brobots 26th (predicting top16)

- Only one Carnor Jax made top16 (top Imperial list was Omega Leader, Vessery, Palp)

- Triple Contracted Scout made top16 (predicting none in top32)

- 1 Quad TLT Y-wings in top16 (predicting 2 in top16)

Some observations from looking through list info for competitors with a 4-2 record or greater:

- There was only 1 stressARC & it wasn't Braylen (Thane Kyrell + Tactician + R3-A2)

- I see 0 defenders with TIE/D title (I simply don't understand this)

- A Mindlink Scyk placed 25th :) (Tansarri Point Vet + Mindlink + Title + Mangler)

Yea there it is! I knew there was one up there somewhere! :)

(Swiss #25) Garrett Jost

  • 6-2 / 1054
  • Flight 1: 5-1
  • 100 points
  • Ketsu (51) + VI + EU + Dengar + Glitter +Title
  • Tansarri Point Vet (24) + Mindlink + Title + Mangler
  • Concord Dawn Ace (25) + Mindlink + Title

I think the meta is still a little to heavy on green dice modification for the TIE/D title... otherwise Tractor Beam double tap Defenders (or ion cannon, but they arguably cost more) would probably showing up at least a little bit. But reducing a defenders cost by 2 and gaining a free evade token to offset any dice shenanigans is to good to pass up at the moment.

A non-US player will win.

I was right! Was it bold, though?

I haven't watched the recording so can somebody tell me: were dice rolled in the last round of the final?

1. Not a single PWT in top 8. sooo wrong :)

2. Final table will feature one list with bombs. Yey

3. BMST will make it to the final table. Wrong - top 8 I think?

4. All legal ships will be played. (seams highly uinlikely this was true)

For the first time the winning list will have less than 4 ships (watch me it my words and have it be Wampa/OL/Inquisitor Palpaces). Okay, that one wasn't really bold I have to admit.

ARCs will perform well with U-Boats out of the picture. I guess we'll never know since nobody brought ARCs!

Palpatine will be the single most used card (okay, thats not bold). Was that right? It probably was TIE/x7, was it?

There will be a nearly perfectly balanced faction distribution (Regen and Stress-Braylen, Palp and the most efficient ships to stack, incredible 'normal' as in not global jousting efficiency multiplier crew cards). Well, almost. Closer than last time, closer than what pre-Deadeye nerf meta suggested.

Had I known the Swiss MoV was carried through from day 1... I might of been able to bring that M3A into top 16.
