Force awakens ships only lists?

By HRCBlade, in X-Wing

I was thinking of playing a couple of games with only force awakens ships as a bit of a change. Anyone got some good squad ideas using this limitation? Either Reb or Imps.

Seemed like a perfect time with the HOTR arriving yesterday

Do you have a preference for the First Order or the Resistance?

The First Order have a fair number of decent lists. Five Omega Squadron Pilots with Crack Shot and Weapons Guidance, Four Zeta Specialists with FCS, two Zeta Specialists with FCS and Omega and Zeta Leaders, and more. The Upsilon will bring even more options!

The Resistance have fewer options since the YT-1300 is such an expensive big ship and the T-70 a relatively expensive small ship - there's no Resistance FO that can be slipped into different lists. A Generic Blue Novice with R2 and Integrated is almost as much as Omega Leader!

So most of their lists end up being Rey in the YT-1300 or three T-70s. The 1300 lists are easy enough, but the Three-70s aren't. You can fit Snap R3-A2 Nien, PtL Pattern Poe, and M9-G8 Jess in a list but they all have to sacrifice Autothrusters for Integrated Astro, and that's an awful price! I'd take PS9 Pattern Ptl Poe with Finn+Kanan Rey any day.

No real preference I generally plays Rebs. I looked at 3 T-70's but couldn't find a list I was happy with. I have tried recently to not use turret ships as that generally creates a more interesting game. But guess Rey is a turret that likes to be flown as a fighter due to card text.

Yeah, Rey is fun! Three-70 lists always have trouble with the last T-70. You can't have two ace T-70s and one cheaper one and get everything you want.

Right after the T-70 dropped I tried Red Vets with PtL, R2 Astro, and Autothrusters as a "heavy interceptor." They were a bit too expensive to use, but you can run three or two with Snap in the same configuration if you have a need for speed!

T-70 (99)

Poe Dameron (38) - T-70 X-Wing

Cool Hand (1), R5-P9 (3), Pattern Analyzer (2), Black One (1)

Nien Nunb (33) - T-70 X-Wing

Snap Shot (2), R3-A2 (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

Jess Pava (28) - T-70 X-Wing

M9-G8 (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

First Order (99)

"Quickdraw" (31) - TIE/SF Fighter

Rage (1), Electronic Baffle (1), Special Ops Training (0)

"Omega Leader" (26) - TIE/FO Fighter

Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)

"Omega Ace" (23) - TIE/FO Fighter

Push The Limit (3)

"Epsilon Leader" (19) - TIE/FO Fighter

Not bad, though I'd suggest switching that Omega Ace for Zeta Leader with Wired and Weapons Guidance - same cost, same PS, and usually more useful.

That T-70 combo is about as good as it gets too. If you're already taking three ships then Jess is a much better buy than any generic T-70.

I can't wait until there are enough ships to fly a Scum list from the new movies.

Unless a "quadjumpa swome" would work.

Funny, I decided not long enough to play only with the First Order for a while and now that Heroes is out, I'll extend it to Resistance only too. And that also means no crew not seen in the movie, so no Kanan with Rey.

Here's some First Order build I came up with:

Zeta Squadron Pilot

Zeta Squadron Pilot

Zeta Squadron Pilot

Zeta Specialist with Accuracy Corrector and Special Ops training

Zeta Specialist with Accuracy Corrector and Special Ops training

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Zeta Specialist with Accuracy Corrector, Primed Thrusters and Special Ops training

Zeta Specialist with Accuracy Corrector, Primed Thrusters and Special Ops training

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Zeta Specialist with Fire-Control System, Pattern Analyzer and Special Ops training

Zeta Specialist with Fire-Control System, Pattern Analyzer and Special Ops training

Omega Squadron Pilot with Adaptability and Comms Relay

Omega Squadron Pilot with Adaptability and Comms Relay

Omega Specialist with Trick Shot, Accuracy Corrector, Pattern Analyzer and Special Ops training

Omega Specialist with Trick Shot, Accuracy Corrector, Pattern Analyzer and Special Ops training

Here's a thematic T-70 squad that should be fun to play:

Poe Dameron (PS8) with Adaptability (or Trick Shot if you're okay with PS8), R5-P9, Pattern Analyzer and Integrated Astromech

Snap Wexley with Push the Limit, R2 Astromech, Pattern Analyzer and Vectored Thrusters

Jess Pava with M9-G8 and Integrated Astromech

Alternatively, if you want to be fully thematic, you could replace R5-P9 and Pattern Analyzer on Poe for BB-8, Primed Thrusters and Black One title. It still leaves you with 1 point, for Veteran Instinc maybe. So:

Poe Dameron (PS8) with Veteran Instinct, BB-8, Primed Thrusters, Black One Title and Integrated Astromech

Snap Wexley with Push the Limit, R2 Astromech, Pattern Analyzer and Vectored Thrusters

Jess Pava with M9-G8 and Integrated Astromech

...

As for a team with the Falcon, here's what I tried yesterday:

Rey with Adaptability, Finn, Recon Specialist, Falcon title (Segnor's Loop version), Smuggling Compartment and Glitterstim

Poe Dameron (PS9) with Lonewolf, R5-P9, Pattern Analyzer, Black One title and Autothrusters

Alternatively, you could load them up like this to get to PS10 and if you want to fly them closer to each other:

Rey with Veteran Instinct, Finn, Recon Specialist, Falcon title (Segnor's Loop version), Smuggling Compartment, Glitterstim and Counter-Measures

Poe Dameron (PS8) with Veteran Instinct, R5-P9, Pattern Analyzer, Black One title and Autothrusters

If you want a list with the Falcon and two T-70's here is an option that I found fun. It is a bit slim on the upgrades, but still usable:

Ch Ch Ch Chewie and the Jets (100 pts)

Chewbacca (TFA version) with: Wired and Millennium Falcon (TFA) Title.............44 pts

Snap Wexley with:R2 Astromech, Primed Thrusters, and Integrated Astromech...30 pts

Jess Pava with: Trick Shot, R2-D6, and Integrated Astromech..............................26 pts

I've got a few that I've tried, and one that I want to try:

For the Resistance

'Massed' T-70s

  • Jess Pava
  • Blue Squadron Novice - R2 Astromech, Integrated Astromech
  • Blue Squadron Novice - R2 Astromech, Integrated Astromech

  • Red Ace - R2-D2, Comms Relay, Integrated Astromech
  • Jess Pava - M9-G8, Integrated Astromech

and for the First Order

'Massed' TIE/fos

  • Epsilon Leader - Comms Relay
  • Epsilon Ace - Pirmed Thrusters
  • Epsilon Squadron Pilot
  • Epsilon Squadron Pilot
  • Epsilon Squadron Pilot
  • Epsilon Squadron Pilot

59 Rey (45), VI (1), Finn (5), Kanan (3), EU (4), MF Title (FA) (1)

41 Poe (PS8) (31), R5-P9 (3), PTL (3), Autothrusters (2), Pattern Analyzer (2)

A PS10 PWT and a decent PS8 Ace with Regen. Should be pretty competitive.

59 Rey (45), VI (1), Finn (5), Kanan (3), EU (4), MF Title (FA) (1)

41 Poe (PS8) (31), R5-P9 (3), PTL (3), Autothrusters (2), Pattern Analyzer (2)

A PS10 PWT and a decent PS8 Ace with Regen. Should be pretty competitive.

I presume that it is the Force Ghost of Kanan, right? Since he's probably been dead for more than 30 years... :P

Omega Scramble:

2x Omega Specialist + Wingman + Accuracy Corrector + Spec Ops + Pattern Analyzer

2x Omega quadron + Crackshot

Rebels:

Red Squad Vetx2

PTL

R2 Astro

IA

Pattern Analyzer

Nien Numb

PTL

BB8

IA

Black One

Primed Thrustors

Total: 100pts

Reveal green maneuver: Red Vets uses PA to perform action + PTL before the green maneuver checks to clear stress, which clears your stress. Nien uses BB8 + PTL before green to be stress free, or his ability if range 1 to prevent being assigned stress. Also title for the hell of it since 1pt title > 1pt init bit.

Triple T70 lists ftw

I still like Omega squadron

26pt OL

4x Omega Tie/FO with crack shot

Omega L (juke + relay) [26]

Backdraft (Adapt + fcs) [29]

Zeta L (adapt) [20]

Zeta S (FCS) [25]

nice flat 100 total with 3 PS 8s

resistance is more difficult because of how underwhelming the T-70 is without regen poe, but Pava might be decent

PS 8 Poe (vi, r5-p9, thrusters)

Red Ace (comm relay, r2-d2, integrated)

Best Jess (r2-d6, crackshot, integrated)

Not bad, I've been having fun with a couple of slightly different "Omega flight" lists:

Omega Leader, Omega Ace, and 2 Omega Squaddies all with Juke and Comm Relay. 3pts leftover for stealth on OL or mkII refined spread around.

Or

Replace Ace with an Omega Specialist with Draw Their Fire, Fire control, and Shield upgrade. OSpec can absorb crits to let the others hold on to their evade tokens longer :)
