Interdictor? I barely know her!

Do you have the rebel players list?

I'm not a big fan of rebels deploying like that. I play Rebels and never do I feel like this would actually help me. Seems to pigeonhole all my movements. It made it too easy for you to knockout the MC80 it seems.

Was the battle fought on a 3'x3' mat?

It looks awful crowded.

Agreed. This suggests very rookie player to me. I love it when someone tries to toilet bowl me.

Are you guys playing on the right size matt? From your photos, it looks like both of you were deploying on a 3' edge.

5xVSD-I + Motti + 5xskilled first officers. On a 3x3 map should be tricky to get behind them

Definitely a 3x3 match, which gives the advantage to the Imperials who have less to cut off...

Of course, this could have come by by the fact that that the all setup and deployed on one half of a 6x3 and then removed the unused mat for clarity.

Don't Tractor Beams only work on equal sized or smaller ships?

I don't even know where to start with this...

You have Tarkin AND Konstantine in your list? I can see you have 6 upgrades on your Interdictor, I just can't make out what the other one is, as actually having Konstantine puts you over 400 points.

How is the Interdictor, a medium based ship, able to tractor beam an MC80 with its large base?

Why does it not have any defense tokens? Did it burn them on previous squadron attacks, or did you inaccurately apply the G-8's ability to it past its maneuver?

How did it get 3 crits dealt to it? None of the fighters are bombers, did you get insanely lucky with the two red dice you were throwing at that range from the Interdictor?

For that matter, most of the squadrons that were supposedly attacking it appear to be both outside distance 1 of the MC80 and outside non-Boosted Comm squadron range, so how did they attack it? How was enough damage dealt in two rounds with 2 red dice, 2 non bomber blue dice, and 2 non bomber black dice?

That's one hell of a high-speed turn the Interdictor is pulling between rounds 4 and 5. Did it fly off the table and then you used Engine Techs to bring it back?

My distance estimates could be way off, but for things like the G-8 and tractor beams, you may have been misreading some rules there. Just like a filthy Imperial! :)

I had similar questions, but was awed and bedazzled because his pictures and presentation were so slick.

Seriously, nice photos and captions. :)

This is the worst deployment the Rebel player could have chosen there. The Shrimp is completely cut off the whole time, the big ships crawl at speed 1 just waiting for the Dictor to grab them and the X-Wings... What were they doing in the first place? They should have been able to clear the TIES, or at least one of them, then harass the remaining Imperial ships.

Not that Konstantine would do anything, the imperials only have one medium ship anyway!

I also noticed that you have 296 points of ships and 110 points of fighters which makes this anything but a 400 point battle.

Like some of the folks above those squadrons seemed to have hit hyperspace on at least two turns, and giving them orders without boosted comms doesn't seem right.

@Dras, there are 6 bits of terrain on that board, so it looks like they just had a 3x3 to play with.

Let's go easy on the man. I bet this was their first game and they missed or misinterpreted some of the rules. I remember when I started I had pretty weird ideas about some of the rules too :D

I still have pretty weird ideas about deployment.

Our group used to alternate First Player. I mean... it just seemed so obvious that you'd do that! :D :D

Anyway, posting mainly so I can ask the OP who makes that gorgeous playmat that you're using? I wantssss it! :D

That mat is called Fiery Nebula and it's made by Gale Force Nine. It's a 3'x3' vinyl mat. My neighbor owns one and they do look nice in person. Note, however, they scratch easily. This may be more of a problem with X-Wing than Armada though, as the Armada ship bases don't have the same type of sharp corners as those in X-Wing.

Here it is at Miniature Market:
