Optional Deployment and moving figures

By Payens81, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Not sure how to phrase this question.

But on the side missions as the Empire player you get typically double the threat and get an optional deployment.

The question with the optional deployment can you move figures that are set in the MAP? Here is the dilemma I would like to deploy a Nexu but around the 1 deployment point I have there is stormtrooper blocking me from deploying on the deployment point. So then I would have to push the Nexu out really far from the actual deployment point.

hope that makes sense.

You cannot move initially deployed figures.

But see Deployment from the RRG. When deploying, figures from each deployed group are placed (see Place too) as close to a single deployment point as possible. So even when the deployment point is blocked by figures, choose any space with the lowest possible distance from the chosen deployment point where you can legally place the Nexu (Nexu has mobile, so can be placed on blocking and impassable terrain spaces and on blocking and impassable terrain edges).

When placing a large figure, one of the figure's spaces must enter the closest possible valid space, the rest of the figure must just be valid to place on the other spaces.

When deploying a Massive figure, the figure must always enter the chosen active deployment point, the rest of the figure can be oriented in the way you want, and the figures under the Massive figure are then pushed, each to the closest valid space.

If I want to deploy a Leader and 3 stormtroopers, can I deploy the stormtrooper not adjacent?

I.e.

Leader (L)

Stormtroopers from the same deployment card (S)

Empy Space (X)

[X]

[X][L][X]

[X] [X]

Leader is on Green Deployment Point.

Yes, that's fine.

If you deploy the Imperial Officer first, he goes into the space with the deployment point. Now the figures of the Stormtrooper group needs to be distance 1 from the deployment point as long as there are valid spaces with distance 1 left. The Stormtroopers do not need to be adjacent to each other, just to the deployment point.
