I think I'm going to learn dual IG-88.

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing

Usually I've seen them with hlc. Better than manglers or is that just a common preference?

I have not settled on anything with this squad. But I am leaning towards adv. Sensors,VI,mangler, dampeners, prox mines.

Am I ridiculously off base?

Nope.

HLC is just nice because with IG88s you're always shooting with 4 dice.

3 v 4 dice is big when it comes to cracking hard targets (soontir etc), which is why the glittercrack hlc build became so prevalent. Still relevant in our glorious new defender meta; with both guns on target the defender is probably still taking four damage through Palpatine and the evade. After that it's harder to push damage through...but you only need two more.

Which is not to say you can't succeed with a mangler, but two mangler is probably too little firepower; one and one would be my vote.

Brobots is the path to the dark side. Brobots leads to salt, salt leads to hate, hate leads to tableflipping.

There are 2 ways to play - symmetrical, which is what you start off with, learn how to range, dodge, doubletap and run. Then you can move onto assymetrical, Learn why advanced sensors is so good, have better MOV against mirror matches......

I know glittercrack became the dominant meta build but I wholeheartedly agree with the space cat, advanced sensors have become my preferred way to play. They save you from one of the most effective anti-bot strategies: bumping the **** out of you. They also allow you a very important level of unpredictability on the rounds when you obviously have to sloop. That boost segnors can end up in so many different spots.

Oh and you need at least one hlc imo. Dual manglers don't have enough dice to scratch token stacks backed up by palp.

I stayed up late watching a match where the fella had advanced sensors and push.oh MAN did that look good with the boosts and token stack.

But ....I admit slicer tools has me jittery

If Scum wins worlds, there will be at least 1 Brobot in the winning list.

If slicer tools are making you nervous, don't fly Aggressors, period. Advanced Sensor push builds are arguably less susceptible to slicers than glittercrack, as unless you're pulling a red (frequent) or hard (less frequent) you push, then perform a green maneuver and clear the stress.

I mean, I don't actually think slicers will be a big problem for Aggressors, but the Sensors are, again, not that vulnerable to them. Or at least not much more than normal.

Oh, one other thing I would say about Advanced Sensor builds: you're obviously using IG-B, because duh. But that means if you're not running PTL or Predator your offense will suffer significantly. Okay, you've got VI and Advanced Sensors: if you Boost -> Evade (or just evade) you have no offensive mods. If you TL you have no defensive mods and only one mod for your (probable) two shots, assuming the dice don't bone you and you end up with one hit landing on a Z-95 with the first shot.

I may very well be mistaken, but I would be very concerned about pushing damage through Dengaroo, all variety of Palp aces, Fenn Rau, triple defenders, and maybe even Poe or Nora without PTL, Predator, or FCS. Hell, Asajj with a focus (or glitter), an evade action and Ketsu crew could be an annoyingly tough nut to crack.

FCS still work if you bump anyone.

I was thought about Adv. Sensors, but then you terribly lack in action economy (and if you have just 2 ships you want not).

So with Adv you need PTL. But I tried this build a lot, and I notice one fact: if I have to get an action economy just to bring 90℅ of the time an *action*+TargetLock with stress...well...1 point less and I will do the same without the stress.

And that's why I got that FCS is always better than ADV (in my opinion of course). The only way I found Adv Sensor useful is in one build that no one (and I really mean No-One) play: Sensors+ExpertHandling.

Doing a barrel roll and clean the stress, that's work!

And no, the trick with boost+segnor I never found it so useful...just funny to use, but not really useful.

Just run IG-D (that's useful as well), and go on.

In my opinion (:

Oh yeah, FCS is nearly mandatory with IG-B! Miss-target-repeat.

2x HLC: Punch!

1xHLC, 1x Mangler: versatile

2x Mangler: Masochist

Try Snap Shot or Attanni Mind Link!

or do Push The Limit with Black Market Slicer Tools

...give one or both Tractor Beams (along with Mangler Cannons) & one a Conner Net = do some fishing.

How do assassin droids take glitterstim anyway? Same goes for bodyguard waifu droids.

How do assassin droids take glitterstim anyway? Same goes for bodyguard waifu droids.

Theirs is a backpack full of coolant flush. Suddenly circuit temp drops to neg values while all 64 cores running parallel and using quantum superposition to calculate infinite possibilities of incoming laser fire.

Man..beast...or droid...

Every now and then everyone wants just a little bump.
