Just got done playing against a few archetypes that I might see next week. My list got crashed. Time to go back to the drawing board.
I love this game. There are so many choices to make.
Also, I am no longer taking a Liberty in my list.

Good luck, man.
You know, not against me, but everyone else.
I'm betting we see a lot of weird lists at Worlds.
I just "helped" a guy who is going to Worlds.
I helped him by showing him the folly of not bringing squadrons, when there's the chance of a big fat Rhymerball backed up by two Bomber Command Centers
With so many people, it's all going to come down to matchups. If you get paired against fleets your list is good against, you'll make the top 8 on your day. If you just play well like you normally do, you'll make top half. That's why I'm so torn. Im taking two fleets that are very different styles. One of them will be fun no matter what I happens. The other could be frustrating.
Any worlds pros out there have advice for us newbies? Things like - should we bring display trays to move between tables? Or any other "big event" tips?
Find a smaller carrying case that you can fit just your fleet and needed parts in. Bonus if it has a good top to set stuff on when noving between tables.
Bring some snacks. Water bottles, granola bars, etc.
Aim for a single pack that is convenient to carry.
EDIT: Bring a small amount of redundant tokens/parts in case something gets lost/misplaced. Its fairly easy to accidentally walk off with an opponenet's speed dial or a command dial.
Edited by Church14Being able to move with relative ease will be a nice boon.
Last year the tables were formalized, and they expected people to move to and from the proper tables as assigned (rather than many casual events where only one player usually moves to wherever their opponent of already set up.)
Remember to relax, the pressure of the big event can be stressful, but you'll get some sweet swag no matter what, so focus on enjoying it! ![]()
So are ffg mats provided? Or should we bring our own?

The organizer must supply them. Only official FFG mats :-D
Speaking of the Generalist Rule, the Organiser has to supply.
They don't have to be FFG Mats (At FFG, they will be.)
If you are allocated to a table that does not have an FFG Map, you may replace it with a Player Provided FFG mat.
But only an FFG mat in that instance.
Two types of mentalities going into events like this. The first is those of us going to win it all or win big. Most of those types leave somewhat disappointed. Then there are those of us who are going for a chance to hang out and play 4 games of Armada against people we have never met before. Those people will leave triumphant in their cause. But for realz:
Drink water
Don't get in a rush
You will make mistakes (just make less than your opponents if possible)
Go to Joe Sensors pizza afterwards if possible
If you haven't played in a four round tournament before it can be pretty exhausting.
Bring water and whatever snacks help you out between games (I recommend granola bars). Don't get down if you lose early. You'll have three more rounds to work your way back up to prize support.

Hah, the list I planned on playing just got ROLLED by pretty much just a Liberty. :|
I've been playing every oddball list you can imagine, and I still haven't mad3 a decision yet. I better decide soon!!!

It's kind of interesting: I haven't seen liberties doing well against the current in vogue squadron-heavy lists, but I have seen them crushing some people bringing lists to counter the squadrons. If squadrons are paper, liberties are rock. Watch for them to be good in Regionals or Nationals. ![]()

The Moar MC30 list would do well at Worlds i reckon!

The list would. Unfortunately, I'm not a very good player, so I wouldn't.
Also, my firstborn is due in less than two weeks, so no Worlds for me!
As mentioned before, bring water, and bring snacks. The FFG games center sells food, but Armada is being held at the Radisson hotel. The two are fairly close, but you generally would not have time to walk back and forth between games unless you finish early.
Some sort of carrying tray is highly recommended.
I also like to have a timer. The judges will announce time remaining at various intervals, but it's nice to be able to track it yourself. Most phones have that capability.
Can anyone suggest a means of getting from the airport (Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport) to the Key Inn hotel on Cleveland Ave N? I'm not planning on renting a car. Taxi? Uber? Lyft? Google maps says it's a 23min drive without traffic. I'm arriving on Thursday at 8:17am. Anyone want to share a ride?

I'm doing an airport shuttle for $20 one way. From what I saw an Uber would be over $30
I called the Radisson and they said a taxi would be about $60. Super shuttle is about $25. I've booked a ride from the airport since I'm arriving later on Thursday (6:30pm) and don't want to waste time. I'm willing to split it with someone if anyone wants.
Great info, I also booked a SuperShuttle from and to the airport. Thanks mates!
You can take the light rail downtown (<$2) and UBER from there - that will save you a little money.
Most of my prep has been trying to order Christmas presents from Think Geek while I'm there. Sadly they don't deliver to hotels...
