So are anyone going to use proximity mines after Cluster mines 2.0 are released?

Well FFg is getting really agressive with FAQ. They made the heavy Scyk heavier and they given crits to cluster mines.

So now with cluster mines being cheaper and have the chance to do more damage what are proximity mines good for? Blaster turret target practice?

Proxy are cheaper, reach further behind you, and can still deal actual critical damage. And does 3 dice to one target where you might only get 2 with cluster depending on placement.

Cluster mines cost 1 point more (unless I missed something), and while they can have a higher potential, prox mines still have the 3 dice roll from a larger token. Yes, a cluster mine is arguably better than a prox, but it doesn't remove it as a option. If you have 5 points on a ship with a bomb and torpedo slot, what's better, one cluster or two prox mines?

Oh, and the ability to inflict a critical damage is not happening with a cluster mine.

I only needed 2 damage to win the game, and I had a Sabine crew on the board still. A Conner Net would have done it, but the Cluster Mines were pretty satisfying.

I am now using both.

I will still be using Prox mines, but only when I can't find the point to upgrade to a Conner Net. Conner nets are just plain better than both Prox mines and Cluster mines, you know exactly what they will do. The buff to Cluster mines makes them equally as good as Prox mines, but there is no reason to take Cluster mines over the superior Conner Net.

Cluster Mines is better if you are playing Sabine, you can proc your own mine token to deal 1 damage to Soontir or Vessery before he moves, without needing to Advance SLAM or drop a mine. Its rare they move over your mine but having to avoid range 1 entirely is impossible. Reason its better is because you drop 3 tokens and proccing it deals 1 measely damage at most to your bomber.
