Got Any Jake Farrell Advice?

By brettdavis1991, in X-Wing

Jake is one of my favorite ships! Fun no matter how you fly him.

I like CubanBoy's idea of adding Biggs!

In my own experience, I really feel like Jake is best when he's a really cheap, evasive, endgame player, without PTL or Prockets. Maybe try something like this?

Jake Farrell (24)
Lone Wolf (2)
Veteran Instincts (1)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Chaardan Refit (-2)
Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Tractor Beam (1)
Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Tractor Beam (1)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
R3 Astromech (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)

I always used

Vi, ptl, autothrusters on Jake.

I dont recommend predator as its not that good with just 2 dice

No Predator? it's served me well through out my last lot of games. I swapped out Auto thrusters for Stealth Device as it was put to use more.

Predator is my favorite EPT. I just think boosting to range 1 with a focus is better than 2 dice focus predator attack. Im not a fan of stealth device either.

Being at PS 9 is priceless for an A-Wing with Prockets, so VI is pretty much mandatory, as is AT.

2 ints and a defender, and he'd never used the ints before.

The protons sure paid off, i killed an int with 3 hull and a shield on the on one attack with a target lock.

For next time, tell him not to put shields on an Interceptor. There's beter stuff for the points and an Interceptor should endeavour not to get shot at in the first place.

If it is just you and your buddy playing not in an official tournament, you really ought to make lists on squadron builder and print them out and leave the cards in their sleeves. It's great to try out different combos and not limit yourself to your collection.

there are a few way so play him depending on what you want to do, and how many points you want to spend

Juke and PTL fit well together, focus to boost or barrel roll for position then evade to juke, save your focus and evade tokens for defence

  • Jake Farrell

Push the Limit
Chardaan Refit
Juke or Veteran instinct
A-Wing Test Pilot

if you have extra points look at adding one of the following

Auto-Thrusters

Stealth-Device

or you alpha strike with 1 good missile hit then focus and barrel roll round the place to annoy your enemy, Deadeye and jakes ability work noice together if he can move late to get off that one big bang. but he is a one shot wonder.

  • Jake Farrell

Veteran instinct or Adaptability
A-Wing Test Pilo

Deadeye

your choice of missile

Guidance Chips

Jake w/ Chaardan, Test pilot, PtL and Outmaneuver.

28 points, sacrificing the high PS without VI, but slippy enough to trigger Outmaneuver.

Remember that Jake trigger's off-of other ships getting him that focus somehow. Jyn Erso is gonna be real nice for him as well as operations specialist.

For example:

Jake Pharrel.

PTL.

Prockets.

Guidance.

A-test.

Crack.

Ezra bridger.

PTL.

Dorsal.

Operations specialist.

Green squadron pilot.

Snap.

Crack.

A-test.

Green squadron pilot.

Snap.

Crack.

A-test.

With the above, you can have Jake barrel rolling and boosting in Direct response to how your opponent is flying. How cool is that!?
