Alliance Rangers are up!!

How many packs is everyone getting? Any reason to get more than 2?

Confirmation they are female figures as well. I was wondering if that was the case based on the picture.

The figures look like men to me.

I honestly cannot tell based on the pics since their arms are across the chest holding the gun but the card illustration and blister art seemed feminine to me. Could just be the article writer is assuming the group is female due to the art and not the actual figure rendering...

That skirmish upgrade might be a reason

*Sigh* If only I could reinforce the elites..... The elite rangers could possibly take out an elite stormtrooper! That good! I think i might like survivalist on my trandoshans too....... Btw, just your opinion: Should I buy Obi wan or Greedo? :D :D :D

That skirmish upgrade on Bossk, playing on a mainly outdoor map

Why oh why would you bring the question of interior/exterior into Skirmish? And in such a small-scale, half-baked way. That is... baffling.

That card might be pretty good on trandoshans. Or maybe even Biv? maybe?

Get both.

Or get the one that matches the faction you play more often.

You know what I just realized?

None of the expansion packs for this wave have an extra campaign item like Greedo/Inquistor/Obi-Wan.

It was a nice touch, especially since allies/villains don’t see that much action in campaign.

Ah well, I guess that’s a feature for standalone expansions.

I like that these are higher priced. The regular troopers cost as much as elites of others. I'm curious how that'll end up playing into how people use these, as both regular and elites seem really good.

They had better be that much for the health and abilities. I think the echo base troops were a step in that direction, but they didn't give the regulars quite enough oomph or killing power

The regular rangers are every bit as good as elite.

I think the command cards are pretty good. Heightened reflexes should be taken in any Merc Hunter list ( so many figures are hunters there) Mitigate is great Fr a one off 0pt card, may not make the cut, but worth a shot if you have room. Call Vanguard only works on 5 deployment cards. I don't know if it makes Fenn worth taking if you have eRangers, but several of the Kayn, EStormies, Heavy Stormtroopers lists I seem to play against wol semm to always include it. It's cheap for 2 pts

Who can use Survivalist?

Kayn

Fenn

Biv

Rangers

Heavy Stormtroopers

StormTroopers

Snow troopers

E web

Inquisitor

Wing Guard

Dengar

Greedo

Echo Base

Weequay

HK

Boba

Bossk

IG

Vrinto

Shyla

Trandoshans

Echo base already get the movement benefit. Weequay aren't worth taking over HK. I wonder if this is worth it on on HK, usually, if they're getting attacked, they're dying, but the movement modifier may help them stay alive

I think the (powerful) command card specifically targeting higher-cost Troopers was a good move. Everyone is complaining about the inability to Reinforce these 4+ cost Troopers; maybe this and other command cards will make it worthwhile to bring them over 3-point Troopers.

Is that list above for people who can use Call the Vanguard?

Otherwise you missed a lot.

Hunter or Trooper includes a lot of people. Wonder if it'll be worth it on Biv...

This might be fun to try, but I don't think this would do well if they actually had to move in close to snag an objective or something.

Getting double attacks on an eRanger from Fenn might be pretty useful if you can position right.

Curious that they released these figures now when they even say in the article they are the same soldiers that went to Endor. I guess they want to save the ally multi unit slot for the Ewoks in that expansion?

It would be neat if they did like a medium sized multi figure base for the Ewoks, similar to the Riot group from Mansions of Madness 2nd edition:

Riot_260.jpg

Anyway getting side tracked.. could also be that they want to cash in on Rogue One, which appears to have these troops in it from the trailer.

The figures are solid, but the upgrade and command cards are definitely well designed. Good job again FFG.

I like the elite Rangers in your list, but I think Gideon or 3po makes more sense

Mak and Loku would fit well thematically as well

For a second, I thought you were referring to a higher MSRP! I was gonna slap you! Then I realized what you meant. Sorry for my momentary mental hostility.

I think Jedi Luke will be fun with the Rangers.

12 Jedi Luke

9 rRangers

9 rRangers

7 Obiwan

3 Gideon

That looks interesting. Lots of ranged punch, with 2 really strong hitters mixing it up in the midst of an opponent's squad. It has 9 figures on the board, but only 5 groups.

12 Jedi Luke

1 Motivation

9 rRangers

7 Obiwan

6 Davith

3 Gideon

2 C3P0

A little bit less ranged punch, but more melee mayhem and more focus/support. It has 8 figures, but 6 groups.

Is it possible to play Jedi Luke with Elite Rangers? At least the eRangers can use the "Call the Vanguard" card, which looks excellent; make sure to focus the figure at the end of the previous round, so the command card has maximum effect.

12 Jedi Luke

12 eRangers

7 Obiwan

3 Gideon

2 C3P0

2 Smuggler (for objectives)

2 Smuggler (for objectives)

I think that if you're using Elite Rangers then Fenn is probably the better choice. But the case could be made that an extra group of rRangers or else eRebelTroopers (to self-focus and be in front of the Rangers) would be more effective than Fenn:

12 eRangers

9 rRangers

9 Fenn (or else just another rRangers group or else maybe some eRebelTroopers)

7 Obiwan (to run interference and keep the enemy away from the troopers)

3 Gideon

Still just 5 groups, but a lot of shooting power.

Anyway, that's enough for now. Regardless, I've pre-ordered 2 copies of the Ranger pack from my LGS. That will be money well-spent, I think! :)

8 Leia

12 eRangers

8 e Echo Troops

3 Gideon

2 3PO

2 AllSmuggler

2 AllSmuggler

Mak or RHC + Diplomatic Mission/Balance of the Force

I think a focused eRanger will hit hard enough to justify Leia giving him extra shots. RHC and her command ability to run through the cards, you could get extra attacks with cards like Vanguard, Gideon's card, Leia'a ability, New Orders, etc. Lots of places to get extra shots and you just keep recycling them through.

My list is:

Leia Organa

Gideon Argus

C-3PO

rAlliance Ranger

rAlliance Ranger

eRebel Saboteur

Rebel High Command

I just realized that vanguard also works on eJet

I've had some relatively good results running eJet + vader's finest : move 4 -> 3 dice attack (not that strong though, BBG) -> move 4, they're excellent as harassers

Also the opponent need to watch out for that stupidly amazing overrun

For colour scheme, I like he traditional Jungle motif, but I was thinking that desert gear would be interesting or even an urban camo look; probably either jungle or desert as this seems to be the main titles. I suppose a winter camo might work.

Are most people going for the traditional jungle or mixing it up? Gives a reason for three packs :) :)

i think i have 3 Fenn figures already, so they may get jobbed as either the elites or regulars, theyre painted in a savannah/desert kind of scheme

I wonder if "Call the Vanguard" is enough to make Fenn Signis competitive? It seems to be a balancing approach to print very powerful command cards that have a figure cost requirement, and this card seems better on him than on the elite Alliance Rangers.
