Beating a dead horse -OR- The TLT always shoots twice.

By WWHSD, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I was looking at the timing chart and realized that you only ever remove a ship in 10. When using a "perform this attack twice" weapon you only ever hit 10 after the second time you perform the attack. Making the second attack is a mandatory effect.

If Miranda is down a shield but shooting her TLT at a target with one hull then she can make her first attack with all three dice and if she misses the first shot make a second shot with all three dice. If the first shot hits and removes the final hull from her target, she can use her ability to make a two dice attack against the destroyed ship to regain her hull.

Yep, that seems correct.

Yep, interesting side effect.

*taking notes*

It's also notable that this does affect the composition of the damage deck, and should the defender have a Major Hull Breach and be subject to Simultaneous Fire, might make a difference to the defender's return shot.

Even more interesting to me is you do gunner/btl-a4/dengar/tie d shots before step 10 so a ship like Biggs should stick around through all of that even after being destroyed regardless of simultaneous fire because of how the flow chart works.

Good catch.

I don't see how it would affect Gunner or IG88-D though. If you missed Biggs with the first shot, he's not going to die before the second, right?

Oh it likely won't though Vader crew means it (gunner) could.

BTL definitely could as well.

And yeah, that's how that works as well.
