Defective Parts

By JediPartisan, in Star Wars: Armada

I purchased an ISD recently and got 2 #10 tokens that are white, not one black and one white as is customary. This is an obvious misprint and I was wondering, has anyone else had this problem?

I contacted their replacement parts people and they said:

Current request status: Closed

Note: Thank you for your request; however Fantasy Flight Games is unable to

fulfill your request. Lighter-colored ID “10” tokens are common throughout the printing, and are not considered to affect gameplay.

We are aware that there is a discrepancy between the images in the rulebook

and the actual punchboard in SWM11, and we are looking to address this in future printings. However, we will not be replacing or exchanging lighter-colored ID “10” tokens for darker-colored ID “10” tokens.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

The token in question is not "lighter-colored" as they would like to suggest this isn't a case of one grey, one white, its two white tokens. Since their tournament rules seem to be so stuck on using proper parts or disqualification, you would think they would replace it. I have e-mailed FF customer service directly and will hopefully get a better response. I have heard in the past that FF is usually good about these kinds of screw ups, so I'm surprised by this so far.

Are all ISD number tokens misprinted?

You could just use all white markers, right?

Or use a different dark number to represent that ship? Or mark one of them to distinguish dark from light.

You wouldn't be disqualified from a tournament because they accidentally have you two same-colored tokens unless you were to do something to intentionally mislead your opponent about your ships, which isn't really an issue with the token at that point.

But yeah, hopefully they just resolve it for you.

yes they were all wrong

Does it matter. No can you use numbers from the other ships yes.

Hardly seems "defective". Defects, to me, are misshapen models or something. Receiving a different colour token for a token you likely won't use doesn't seem much of an issue. Move along.

Did you send a picture to them as well? Typically that will get a better response. But if you run a single ISD, you shouldn't need to worry about marking your ISD with a number. Also, you can use a token from a different pack if you need to.

I'd have to break out the search window, but I'm pretty sure there was an issue on Release, and was acknowledge by FFG as an issue on release of the ISD back in September of '15...

and that, basically, nothing was going to be done about it, as it involved the entire print run, and was a "non-essential component."

... There's nothing in the rules or requirements that states that any numbers you use have to be consecutive, or even related to ship (ISDs don't have to be 10)...

I don't think I've ever heard of an ISD with the proper one, so I'm not sure if there's even a replacement to send. I mean, I've worked on... I think 13 ISD's now, nothing has been 'right' for that second token.
