Black One and tractor beams

By thepicto, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So I was playing a game with my shiny new Heroes of The Resistance set, and at one point during the game Black One Poe got hit by a tractor beam. Poe was currently target locked by an enemy ship. So given that the tractor beam causes a boost/barrel roll and Black One sheds a target lock when the xwing does either of those; we decided that the tractor beam could trigger Black One.

Is this correct? It felt wrong, and yet so right :-)

Nope. Black One requires that you perform a barrel-roll or boost action. The forced movement from a tractor token is not an action. Check your tractor token rule card.

The key word there is action , and Black One requires the boost or barrel roll action to be performed. And as WWHSD stated, the tractor beam movement isn't an action, it's just a mechanic.

Ah, missed that. Thanks for the clarification :-)

I can see the confusion after all most enemy attacks trigger a positive result...in bizzaro world :P

The reference to boost/barrelroll in the tractor card is only to tell you how to move it, its not actually doing those actions. Otherwise it would fall under the multiple actions in the same round issue. If that were true, Soontir doing boost/barrelroll and somehow gets hit by a tractor beam wouldnt be able to be moved because he already did those two actions (which if he somehow got hit by a tractor he has other issues...namely green dice being hateful bastards)
