When you're the largest general gaming store in the world... You don't screw about
HotR = OS, and Shorted Shipments
My store hid them behind the counter so they could make sure the regular X-Wing players had a shot at them first. There were only one or two left on Sunday after I grabbed mine.
Mine should arrive today. But I have to work so I won't get to them until tonight.
Oh the agony...
My store actually called to see when I would pick up the reserved copy, making me wonder if they're running out. I called to assure I'd pick up tonight and it had better be there as I don't have $200 to spend on HotR scalpers!
It seems like some of the smaller store have been allocated. At the store I use to buy my X-Wing supplies, that was a frequent issue.
It seems like the on-lines stores have plenty.
But if I can sell my for $200 then..... That might cover the stuff I just bought for another game.
Can someone who understands how distribution networks actually work explain why this is the reality?
Why do large stores get their full order of 50+ sets, online mega-retailers get 100s of sets, and small local game stores that pre-order 2-3 sets for customers months early are the ones that get shorted on their orders?
I thought one of FFG's big proud goals for the Asmodee merger was to better improve the situation for FLGS, who were suffering to the online mega-stores. Yet we're in a situation where small FLGS get shorted on their orders.

Asmodee just wanted to up the profit margins on the larger online mega stores. They don't care about the small FLGS actually. If upping their profit margin happens to help small guys then sure but they aren't actually concerned about them.
