Dump Truck Heroes: Fun with Trick Shot and Rigged Cargo

By CBMarkham, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Another thread on the main page, posted by Vineheart, inspired this list which I actually think is kind of fun. I'm re-posting the list here for greater visibility.

I call it "Dump Truck Heroes". Essentially, you have two big ships who don't give a frak about debris, so you drop it everywhere. You personally bring the 3 large debris obstacles, and do your best to setup an obstacle triangle with them near your side of the board. Use the more convenient of Chewy or Dash to drop Rigged Cargo in the center of the obstacle triangle in order to fill it in and create an impassable debris field. Once you have a huge, dense area of debris, you just kind of S-Loop and Barrel roll around it and force your enemies to fight in the trash with you.

Dash still has a 4 dice primary (if the shot is obstructed), but there's no longer a doughnut hole and enemies have a hell of a time chasing him through this nonsense.

Chewbacca can fly over any debris he wants to (or if no debris is around, he can pull sick S-Loops), then after he takes the stress, he can clear it with Kanan and immediately gain a free focus with Kyle, and STILL take his normal action, so he's effectively ignoring debris like his buddy Dash and getting two actions per turn, all while also having a 4 dice primary (if his shots are also obstructed). If Chewbacca should roll a crit while going over the debris (1 in 8 times) then you can take solace in the fact that it's a face down crit.

The list still has 4 points to work with that I haven't fully hammered out. You can use Leebo on Dash, or push Kanan over to Dash to put a different crew on Chewbacca, or put Ion Projectors on both guys, which should be mean in conjunction with the piles of debris...whatever. You figure out that last 4 points.

Another solid option is to use TFA Han in order to put him in an ideal spot to finish up your obstacle field on the first turn, then your Falcon is PS9, but you don't have points left for a crew on Dash. So...either way.

The point is, only Dash and Chewy can fly through all this trash with impunity, and they both get 4 dice primaries while doing it.

1) Trick Shot + Rigged Cargo Chutes

2) ???

3) Profit

This sounds like a ridiculous amount of fun.

great... now I need to buy another shadowcaster for no reason other than to have a second rigged cargo chute..... because this looks amazing

very cool and fun looking.... which chewie though???

very cool and fun looking.... which chewie though???

Original, clearly. Crits from flying through debris are more or less normal hits, and new Chewie could only possibly use his ability once in this build.

thanks... not too familiar with those pilot cards only flew the Falcon once

Copying a post from the initial thread, because the images that Wurms got are hilarious:

Here it is: Dump Truck Heroes (with New Han shenanigans)

Silly but cool! And very effective....

Probably wouldn't work too well in my local store as at least one regular opponent is currently in the midst of a love affair with the Seismic Torpedo, usually packing at least 2 in each squad....

Please excuse my ignorance on the topic but, why would seismic torpedoes make this list ineffective?

With this you can remove the obstacales on an action and potentially doo damage, plus, you still have an attack

Not sure it would render the list ineffective, but would reduce the effectiveness after the obstacles started to disappear and the extra damage potential may keep you out of your own designed trap in the late game.

Thank you for the explanation. Don't have that card....yet.

Dump Truck Heroes gets its first win!!!!

Went to the LGS today to pick up my Heroes kit (and of course brought my Xwing stuff), so I played a game. Wasnt against a particularly strong list, Rey with Hot Shot Co-Pilot, Finn and some other things, and two rookie pilots.

I changed up Dump Truck Heroes a bit on the spot. Since there are 4pts remaining, I wanted more garbage on the table, so I added Sabine to Dash. I needed two points for Cluster Mines to litter the field even more and block lanes. So I dropped Kanan on Chewie for Nien Nunb. Great I thought, but...I didnt bring Cluster Mines with me :( So I put Conner Net in instead. But prefer Cluster Mines in this list for the square footage it takes up.

Dash Rendar (36)
Trick Shot (0)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
Sabine Wren (2)
Conner Nets (4) (but prefer Cluster Mines)
Rigged Cargo Chute (1)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Outrider (5)
Chewbacca (42)
Trick Shot (0)
Nien Nunb (1)
Kyle Katarn (3)
Rigged Cargo Chute (1)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Millennium Falcon (TFA) (1)
So, I set up the debris in the middle of the battle field. By the time both of my ships got their, all three of his ships were there and hurt chewie pretty bad, Rey got 5 damage in on first shot, ouch! So, chewie with 4 hull left after first exchange, immediately drops his Cargo with a 1 straight the next turn. Rey bumps into him, and lands on cargo, the xwings cant kturn because of debris in middle of field, so hard 2, blocking Dash. Chewie and Dash take out an Xwing. Chewie only takes one shot from an Xwing and he lives. Next round Dash 3 banks in front of Rey and drops Conner nets. She 1 hards onto Conner Nets is now stressed and ion'd. She is able to take Chewie out. Dash takes the Xwing to 1 hull (Rey bumped into Dash), Rey has 1 shields and full Hull. Dash is down to just 5hull.
Im away from the debris in the middle at this point, and I know that is my advantage against Rey, so while Rey is connered I 3 left, then 3 bank the next round, evading fire from her and drop some cargo in the middle, forming a long wall Donald Trump would be proud of. Dash is now firing 4 dice with Mangler and kills Xwing. Rey turns and goes the long way around the wall, forcing her arc to be pointed away from Dash. Dash is circling the debris, pounding Rey at range 3 through Debris, 4 dice for Dash, 2 green for Rey (no range bonus). While she fires 3 red, and I get 4 defense (2, +1 debris, +1 range) She finally gives up on going around the wall and hard ones onto it, taking a stress. Dash gives Rey a blinded pilot lol. Crits galore every round after that first shield drops. The other crits where major explosion, damaged cockpit, and hard turns red, HA! She final bites the bullet and Dash is left with 4 hull.
Dump Truck Heroes FTW!
After that first round of combat, and Chewie hurting bad and I hadnt even dropped a cargo yet, I felt like I was doomed. Then it was Half hp Dash vs 9hp Rey and 1hp Xwing. But once I got into the mess in the middle, it was gravy. Critastic I should say.
Really fun and unordinary list. People will not know wtf to do against it. Not uber competitive, but some of the most fun you can have with a two PWT list.

I tried a variation last night too and didn't fare that well

... Only one cargo chute so I threw thermal detonator Sabine on chewie. I made a nice place for me to hide but the dice were against me and I rolled more green blanks than I ever have seen before in my life!

Trickshot and hiding behind debris is hilarious tho and triggered a half dozen times.

Glad to hear it works!

Considering trying the idea out myself this weekend. Going for a slight variation on the theme:

  • Dash Rendar - Outrider, Trick Shot, Mangler Cannon, Chopper, Smuggling Compartments, Rigged Cargo Chute, Anti-Pursuit Lasers
  • Chewbacca - Millenium Falcon (HotR), Trick Shot, Kyle Katarn, Kanan Jarrus, Smuggling Compartments, Rigged Cargo Chute, Anti-Pursuit Lasers

There might be an opportunity for Vrill here as there are likely some targets going to be stressed.

Though it would lose the Trick Shot.

This is one of the funnest casual lists i've seen in a while. Looks like a lot of fun. I'll have to try it as soon as i can.
