Armada List juggler? is it a thing?

By Tallens, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

Hi People,

I was wondering if there was a Armada List Juggler (like the one for x-wing: http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/tourneys) that shows tourney lists, heat maps, and popularity for Armada lists.

I tried searching for something similar, but it seems that Armada is way more reserved and lists are almost secret, for a tiny group of people "scared" of sharing? There are lists in the forum, and there are lists on 100 different kind of blogs - 70% of those seem to be outdated (ie. have died out within the last 6-7 months),

But nothing seems to come out from the different countries world wide unless one searches like a crazy - sharing is caring and all that. why is the Armada Community so silent when it comes to this part. - or am I just looking the wrong places? - could be.

Best Regards

T

Mostly because lists themselves are far more complicated in Armada when compared to X-Wing.

That, and ... well... It doesn't look like we, as a community, seem to care as much about the nitty gritty... Everything is new and shiny to us most of the time.

We did do a lot of list-tracking for Regionals last year, and the Shmitt-man is ready to do so again this year for Regionals... But for the most part, we're all about Experimenting.

I believe WWPDSteve has also created a Database to track lists and Games, so you should check that too...

A US National Armada Champion has referred to this as the "People's Game" after all - the idea being that, you can do what you want - doing what you want, and what you are comfortable with - is more powerful than any Netlist you can draw from.

Or, y'know. We're Lazy. We can't even decide on a standardized format for our List Builders... Trying to tie that in with an easy way to format the lists and have them submitted somewhere... Lazy... :D

I know I'm Lazy.

Besides, you don't want my lists. I havn't won a game in Months.

Dras really does have the essence of it. I think there is more equality per point in Armada than in most games I have ever played. If you want a competitive Armada list put 400 points on the table that doesn't include cluster bombs or point defense reroute upgrades.

The reason you don't see a streamlined system is because there are so many possible variations it makes it incredibly hard to quantify them. Even lists sharing the same archetype will be very different from person to person.

For more on archetypes, see shmitty's Armada regional data thread, it has some of the common ones.

We also have a much smaller player base (at least competitively) than X-wing, so with fewer data points (with a much more complex list system, as Dras mentioned) and it's incredibly difficult to use the data to draw concrete conclusions of any kind, other than the most broad descriptions. Like...Demolisher is really good, and is in most imperial lists.

That's about all we can derive from the data we have so far!

This cannot be emphasized enough.

Sozin , who built the List Juggler for X-Wing recently moved to Portland, and I had the chance to question it about it. Regrettably, the way he wrote the code for that is much too integrally aligned with the specifics of X-Wing to make it easily convertible to Armada. Otherwise, I would have made him disappear in my garage until he produced an Armada version.
