Cost of repairing a lightsaber

By Nekses, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hi,

how much does it cost? Base cost is 300 for the hilt. The krystall is a attachment. In case of a minor repair it would be 75 Credits. Seems a bit low considering the power of a LS. On the other hand base cost + krystall would be way to much. So are there rules for this case? If not i would make a house rule considering the finacial situation of my group.

I'd go with basing the cost off of the hilt. Yes, it's cheap in comparison to other weapons, but it's not like the primary component (the kyber crystal) is readily available to be replaced the way pretty much every other weapon in the game can be.

I agree with Donovan. Unles it was the crystal itself that was destroyed (highly unlikely, unless it's through you royally screwing up a mod ito it), it's only the hilt components which can really be damaged.

I agree with the others, even if the hilt is destroyed; the crystal most likely survives (although it might be damaged).

If the lightsaber was destroyed that might include the crystal.

Expect your players to cry foul though!

Yeah, the suggestion chart for spending Advantage/Triumph/Threat/Despair in the combat chapter does say that even if you spend 2 Triumphs to destroy the other guy's lightsaber, it's up to the GM to decide if the kyber crystal is destroyed or not.

I guess it comes down to "does the player have an accessible source of kyber crystals?" and "how much time and money have they sunk into modding the crystal?"

The FaD Beta adventure had the PCs stumble across a secret source of kyber crystals (though not as good as Ilum crystals, and only had a few modification options), so losing one of those would be annoying but not a big deal (provided the PCs had their own ship and so could go back to that planet as they desired).

Losing a Krayt Dragon Pearl or Lorrdian Gemstone or even a fully-modded Ilum crystal would be far more detrimental and aggravating to the player.

Of course, if it's a bad guy's lightsaber and the PCs already have lightsaber crystals of their own, then by all means let the crystal be destroyed. Not like the villain's going to be needing it for much longer.

When I take something away from my players that is important to them, It's because I am giving them something better. I'm not GM just to make them suffer, even if it is fun to watch them squirm.
