Should FFG release a pack of errata cards?

By Merman, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I wanted to see what people thought about FFG releasing a pack of those cards which have been changed via the FAQ. There are 20+ cards that have been updated and it's starting to get a little difficult to keep track of each change, especially for newer players like myself.

I think they could release one pack a year and it would help to simplify everyone's binders of cards.

First point: this topic is more suitable for the general forum than the rules forum.

Second point: it doesn't really matter what any of us think of the idea, because it won't happen. It would compromise the value of the miniatures and that's where FFG make their money. Any future reprints of the cards will have the correct text.

It still doesn't seem to change the fact that FFG still use the old (and incorrect) images of the cards in their preview articles. The OP does have a good idea, but sadly, it's not likely to happen. Personally, I use Strange Eons to create the corrected card, then print a new one and slide it into the sleeve with the old one. That way I have the correct card and the original so no one can accuse me of using a proxy. :)

It doesn't affect the value of the miniatures at all. If they offered a decently priced set of corrected cards that were option to need at tournaments etc I know loads of people who'd buy them. How does that impact the value of the miniatures?

Agree it'll likely never happen though.

People who only want the card wouldn't need to buy the miniature it comes with.

The errata card pack would become a good source for these currently popular cards:

  • Accuracy Corrector (Only in: IG-2000 Expansion Pack, StarViper Expansion Pack )
  • Autothrusters (Only in: StarViper Expansion Pack )
  • Crack Shot (Only in: Hound's Tooth Expansion Pack, Imperial Veterans Expansion Pack, Kihraxz Fighter Expansion Pack)
  • Tactician (Only in: TIE Phantom Expansion Pack)

StarViper sales would plummet.

I know I only bought my StarViper for the Autothrusters (I don't fly Scum), and I bought a second TIE Phantom specifically for Tactician. I'd also love to try out a Crack Swarm, but I only have 1 from Imperial Veterans.

Has anyone seen or got any of the updated cards yet? The only correct one I have is Expert Handling .

The FAQ came out a week ago. I doubt any updated cards even exist at this point, or if they do, they certainly haven't been shipped in anything yet.

I have Daredevil, Expert Handling, and the cloak reference card. I might also have Lone Wolf and Crack Shot, but I'll have to double check.

I actually meant the older ones that have been FAQ'd for some time now. Not the latest ones. That would be expecting too much. :)

I have actually emailed FFG about this same issue as I am tired of relying on paper printed FAQ's. I made the suggestion to FFG that instead of simply releasing cards for sale that people interested in upgraded cards actually trade/return their original cards in order to preserve the value of the expansions in the market. Still waiting to see this happen as I really WANT to always have the latest printed cards myself.

They won't. They will amend the cards in later printings of ships, and in alt-arts.

I'd like to see errated cards as participation prizes for kits personally.

As it stands right now they literally can't release a pack of JUST errata cards. The license agreement with Disney doesn't allow them to sell anything without a model attached.

Now they could do something like put one copy of the cheapest piece of plastic possible in along with a pile of cards, but they literally can't sell just cards.
