Simple rebel fleet 400 tourne

By Wiggylovessnow, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey guys kinda new at this and wanting to keep it simple my fleet is

Mon cal 50, akbar, redundant shields

2 mon cal 30 scouts with ordanance expert and rapid reload

4 x wings

Millenium falcon

Any tips or things you would change?

APTs on the MC30s. I prefer ECM on the big guy. Jan is great to lend brace tokens to XWings while their Escort rule protects her.

What he said. With all the accuracies flying around in big dice pools, ECM is somewhat of a must have on big ships with a single brace. Jan makes X-Wings awesome. You don't need the Falcon.

Generally speaking, and until you know what you're giving up by ignoring it, a good rule of thumb is to take an even number of squadrons, because 2 squadrons = 1 deployment, but 1 squadron gives you nothing at deployment. And with an Ackbar MC80, deployment is huge for you to let you see what your opponent is doing. Also, I agree that four X-wings should do reasonably well for you, so I'd drop the Falcon and take Turbolaser Reroute Circuits on the MC30's instead to mitigate those horribly fickle red dice. They'll up your damage considerably, both at long range and short, and absolute reliability is super valuable in this game.

I'd probably take Assault Proton Torpedoes over Rapid Reload, just because APT is cheaper for similar gain. That said, since you hope to be shooting out side arcs most of the time anyway with Ackbar, RR isn't a bad option in this build. It might take some fancy flying to maximize the benefit from it, but shouldn't be too hard to at least leverage the +1 black in most games.

Home One is pretty nice in conjunction with the MC30, especially the Scout with unreliable reds. I'd take the rest of the points you're saving by dropping Han, and use them to buy Home One. This will give you even more dice modification to your MC30s' red dice shots, which--have I mentioned yet?--so unreliable.

All that said, the 80-30-30 list is a lot of fun. I've been all about MC30's since they first came out, and 80-30-30 is the first list I tried with them. It's very good, and not super difficult to fly reasonably well. All you have to do is make sure your MC30's are covered by the MC80's broadsides. You might have a bit of a tough time in certain metas, but it's a solid build with some aggressive elements and some conservative ones, so it'll give you some forgiveness while still giving you some tools to learn and improve your game.

Also, definitely recommend taking Hyperspace Assault for your yellow objective and Advanced Gunnery for your red, because... well... :)

Ack, didn't mean to post. Sorry!
