Question about Fleets with Yavaris

Hi guys,

I have a question about fleets using Yavaris. Do you always go with 134 points of squadrons when you use that title? To make sure that if some squadrons die early, you can still use others?

I tried a fleet with Yavaris and went with 2 B-Wings, 2 X-Wings and Jan Ors, which is good on paper, but I went against someone who used 134 worth of squadrons and had 2 Heroes with scatter tokens (eff those). Yavaris did what it could, but by turn 4 I had no squadrons left and the ship was heavily neutered (and then destroyed by the squadrons). I managed to destroy a raider and 4 interceptors before going down, but still, I wonder if I should change my fleet to go full squadrons.

I rarely do I actually run something similar to your squadron setup with just a little more. The big thing for me is to use yavaris' shots on squads not ships. Two blues is no joke.

What was rest of your fleet? Personally I like to go full squadrons, but perhaps 2 more X-Wings would be enough to get through. Questions is if you have enough squadron commands and sth where you can shave points.

Remember acc on sqaudrons shut down scatter

the rest of the fleet was a Liberty with Madine, a Support Neb Salvation with Spinal Armament and a GR-75 transport with bomber command center and Leia

I had success with XXA+Dutch+Jan+Dash, which comes to about 86 points.

Yavaris + Dutch means that you get a lot more mileage out of your squads than a lot of people expect. Yavaris turns those 6 into the offensive power of 9, while Dutch removes 2 squadrons from your opponent, for a total swing of 5 squads.

Once the X-wings are gone your opponent has to decide which person to shoot at, and by that point Yavaris is up to pour AA fire. Yavaris's only job is to attain air superiority and free up squadrons for bombing runs.

Don't forget to include AA fire from ships in your plan. If they have that many squads you can probably spend a turn plinking a few hull of squads before engaging the capital ships.

At gen con I faced a very large rhymer ball with something like 11 squadrons. I only lost the 2 x-wings and an A-wing due to Jan + yavaris + Dutch.

I typically run 1 HWK, 3 X-Wings and 2 B-Wings with BCC and Toryn. Always use Yavaris to shot squads because 3 reds without rerolls isn't very consistent. Try to get double tap B-Wings, but X-Wings are pretty good when you get 2 anti squad shots with rerolls.

I was about to type "well, AA from Yavaris helped a lot" but then I realized what I typed xD

I meant interceptors

The good thing about Yavaris is that it makes almost any set of squadrons usable. You just have to know exactly what you want to do with them. And you doN't even have to build your fleet around Yavaris. I used it in some cases as a mere support vessel with A-Wings and X-Wings for screening.

yeah I had Madine and he really doesn't do much for Yavaris...

Man, I just realized, Rieekan would have been so good....

edit: Well no, I only had 1 named Squadron
