Something to consider when posting.

Whether it's an FFG employee like Frank or someone that has been banned from the forums, posting negatively about someone that can't post in their own defense is kind of jacked up.

...

Posting negatively about anyone should never be done.

Now having negative opinions about what they may, or may not, have said IS perfectly valid. Unfortunately some people have a hard time distinguishing between comments made on a thought or idea and comments made targetting the person behind the thought or idea.

I know that in some other forums some people have felt very offended after I ripped into something they posted especially when it is supposed to be "new" or for "personal use but I'm asking for input on an open forum" type information. Here that is akin to ripping into some of the proposed rule changes as well as card/pilot/ship concepts. Even the rules and stuff we actually have should be fair game for some negative options. Even if you don't agree on certain things there is no reason to go after someone else.

I'm pretty sure there are several people here who have opinions that are vastly different from mine on certain topics yet in other areas we are probably in complete agreement. There's not much point in vilifying someone you don't agree with just to find out that you do share thoughts in other areas and could be considered allies there.

Does anyone know what the final straw was that got PGS removed? I miss his rants about PWTs.

Can you do a post search on a banned member? Some forums allow it, some don't.

again, not to pour any fuel on the fire, but he sort of explained it on Reddit .

Not speaking ill of the departed is nonsense when it's about dead people (obviously you don't say hateful things to their family or whatever), but about people who have been banned from a forum? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.

The reason not to talk about the missing man is that he's not worth talking about, not that it's somehow uncivil or untoward to say negative things about people who can't reply.

Harassing employees who are constrained by the requirements of their job is a very different thing. And yeah, don't do that.

Strongly disagree. Disliking someone personally is perfectly valid too. PGS is the perfect example. I had no problem with that he said, I was disliking the forum personality and the way how he did it. To any extend that he the point that he gave me an urge to bunch people in the face … which is fine, as extra motivation to do some sparring rounds is always good. ;-)

I am still quite happy that he is gone, because the endless pointless discussions really got on my nerves too, you can block a guy, but you can't block the responses his trolling provokes.

And by the way, it is not only the FFG forums, he got the boot from his FLGS as well.

Anyway, back to something interesting, while it is amusing how much impact and recognition you get from just being annoying … at least in the internet, it still pointless to talk about him. I am pretty sure anyway the PGS is already back with a new account and a much more tame and a lot more agreeable online avatar. And if I am right about that then the ban was quite successful.

Some people certainly can get to the point of personally disliking them even if one has a thick skin although I've generally found those people to be the same one who go and provoke with personal attacks of their own.

I hope you're not disagreeing with what that quote is meant to represent. I'm saying that everyone has a right to be against what someone else says but that should not automatically transfer up to the person. You can certainly hate an idea without hating a person. Unfortunately there are people who do go beyond that and can start provoking negative feelings towards themselves; these are the toxic people who even when you do agree with them you just can't stand how they go about certain things and the way they seem to treat certain people.

Not to derail this thread but a lot of these things can be tied to politics. You can certainly get people with differing views on certain topics who get along wonderfully despite these. Conversely there may be people who have policies you'd actually support but because of other things you can't bring yourself to support them.

Not automatically is a keyword here. You certainly can be disgusted by an opinion and the person who has it based on this single opinion.

And let's not get politics involved without good reason. ;-)

I just don't get why one would waste the time mentioning him.

I don't talk about Ribann do I? Does anyone?

Thanks for posting this link. The last post from PGS that I read was in the Off Topic about him quitting his job. I didn't know or remember him getting banned from a store. If his online persona was anything like he was in person I can understand why there would be a lot of friction. He was very polarizing.
