Ship boarding

By Dett Starley, in X-Wing

I've been looking for custom imperial assault maps to use with x-wing. I'd like to have interiors of each large ship so I could have a boarding skirmish during my x-wing games. Can anyone help? Does anyone already do this? Didn't I hear something about official

X-wing imperial assault crossover?

X-wing imperial assault crossover?

It was only "official" in the capacity that FFG had someone writing articles suggesting how to combine the RPG, X-Wing, Imperial Assault, and/or Armada.

Nothing that actually puts them together, though.

Honestly, I'd just wing it. I know there are tiles for a Star Destroyer bridge, so I'm sure you can get plenty of use out of them. I wouldn't expect much by way of accurate depictions, though.

I've found good maps for the yt-1300, and yt-2400, but that's about it.

Also are there any guidelines for boarding another ship in any expansion missions?

Just alter the ion rules, and work from there.

Yeah, I'd go with, "when in range 1 of a large base ship with two Ion tokens, you my initiate a boarding action."

Keep it simple.

One of the Gozanti campaign missions is won by the Rebel player successfully boarding the Gozanti and storming the bridge, but it basically comes down to "Achieve X condition to dock with the Gozanti, your agility is 0 as long as you are docked, if you're still docked at the end of the turn you storm the bridge and win."

Could anyone point me in the direction of a website that has lots of printable tiles?

I think target ship to board should have its shields down too

I think you need a captured Imperial Shuttle and fly casual...but not too casual...

Just may have to shell out the cash for that

Only thing I'd add is have the boarding action happen at the start of the Activation phase like Decloak. Otherwise you're adding a whole other level of complexity with having to make sure the boarding ship is low enough PS to act before the large ship does its 1 Forward and sheds its ion tokens.

I used to just google "star wars [insert ship's name/type] deck plans" when playing RPG's.

For example: YV-666 deck plans.

It's as rare as rocking horse excrement, but DeAgostini did a series of Star Wars terrain sets for wargaming in their Star Wars Battle Games magazine.

It included floor tiles for the Tantive

Virtually impossible to find even a scanned copy, but the quality was pretty reasonable IIRC

Right, I would think that there are floor plans for a lot of ships somewhere out there. Was the Decimator part of Star Wars Galaxies? You might have to look there for some sort of floor plan for that ship.

As for tiles for it...you might have to make your own. There are a number of programs you can get that make them. Either that or use a dry erase mat like I do for DnD.

The WEG (and maybe the wizards, I never messed with this version) star wars role playing game had many ship schematics. Players created databases of them. Search the webs, you'll find plenty.

Definitely floor plans available for the Deci...I'm using some in a conversion I'm currently working on ;)

Good idea...

If you search for PDF files of West End Games books, you will find mucho mucho deck plans, for sure.

edit: I just realized that i have them all on file. ^_^

Any boarding action or Imperial Assault game would take waaaay longer than an actual X-wing dogfight. There's no way they would take place at the same time. Maybe an Armada scale fight, that I could see.

That is a concern, I've never actually played Imperial assault so I'm not opposed to cherry picking it's hardware and using what I think works and ignoring elements that get in the way. Or maybe the timing could work if you put a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio of turns per round. But "no way" to make it happen? Never tell me the odds ( especially if you think they're 0)

Official boarding rules: If you crit a hole in the side of someone's ship, Boba Fett can jetpack over, throw something out the hole, and then jetpack off into the sunset/sarlacc.
